Overview

Allmetal Recycling - 21st Street at 800 E 21st St N, Wichita, KS 67214

Allmetal Recycling is a Wichita auto salvage yard and scrap metal recycling center at 800 E 21st St N.The yard also handles scrap metal, appliances, and other recyclable materials. While they don’t have online reviews, their website and social media show they work with DIY mechanics and professional restorers in the Wichita area.

Services & What to Expect

Allmetal Recycling is an auto salvage yard. Customers enter, find the vehicle with the part they need, and remove it themselves. The yard doesn’t offer professional part removal. You’ll find common auto parts like engines, transmissions, doors, bumpers, and interior components. Pricing is usually per part, not a flat entry fee.

What to Bring

  • Tools for part removal (wrenches, sockets, pry bars)
  • Gloves and safety gear (the yard may not provide tools, so check ahead)
  • Transportation for the part (truck, trailer, or vehicle with space)
  • Payment method (cash or card, depending on their policy)

The process is simple:

  1. Visit during business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM).
  2. Find the vehicle with your part (the yard may have a map or inventory system).
  3. Pay the part removal fee at the office.
  4. Remove the part using your tools.
  5. Leave the vehicle as-is (minus the part) and exit.
Some yards require a waiver or ID before entry. Allmetal Recycling’s website doesn’t mention this, so ask when you arrive.

Scrap Metal & Other Materials

Besides auto parts, Allmetal Recycling takes scrap metal, appliances, and other recyclables. They may pay cash for accepted items, though exact pricing isn’t listed online. For large metal loads or bulky items, they offer free removal. If you’ve got old vehicles, appliances, or scrap metal taking up space, they’ll help dispose of it properly.

Need to Get Rid of a Junk Car?

If you have an old car, truck, or SUV that doesn’t run, Allmetal Recycling may take it. Many salvage yards, including this one, pay cash and tow junk cars away for free. For the best deal, check offers from multiple buyers before selling.

The process itself is simple—drop off, weigh, unload, weigh again, get paid. That’s how it worked last May when I got $84 for 120 pounds of cans. When I went back in September, something had definitely changed for the worse. This time they claimed my load was only 42 pounds and only paid out $25. I know I brought in way more, probably close to 100 pounds in those four bags, so I wasn’t happy. The supervisor, Ricardo, dragged his feet and made me wait around while he talked to others instead of dealing with me. By the time they took me to the yard to check the weight, my bags had already been dumped and mixed in with the pile. They scooped cans into a bin until it matched their number, and that was that. I pushed back, told him he was shorting me, and his whole attitude flipped. He acted like I was the problem, which just made it worse. The teller inside wouldn’t even give me a full name—just “Craig” and “Ricardo.” I’m done going there, and I hope the Better Business Bureau looks into this kind of treatment.

My wife and I stopped by this junkyard last Thursday, and Yair made the whole experience smooth and pleasant. He greeted us warmly right away and kept the conversation easy and straightforward. I was impressed by how helpful and honest he was about everything. Not many places have someone that friendly and hardworking. He really went above and beyond, so we’ll definitely be back and tell others to check it out.

I’ve only had good experiences here. The guys who help unload aluminum cans are always nice and easy to work with.

This place has always been great. Every time we come in, the staff is professional and friendly—especially Shelby. She’s been nothing but kind and helpful every visit. Fast forward to May 26th, we’re still giving five stars. My dad is both blind and hard of hearing, so I always tag along to make sure he’s okay. The ladies in the office are patient with him and treat him with respect. One of the girls, the young blond with long hair, even remembers him and greets him personally no matter who’s at the counter. Shelby’s still as good as ever.

The setup works well enough if you don’t mind waiting, but they’re always slammed and that slows everything down. Plus, the crew outside isn’t exactly welcoming—they snap back when you ask a simple question. It’s frustrating because without people like us bringing them scrap, they wouldn’t have any business at all. They should show a little respect instead of acting like we’re bothering them just for handing them their own product.

My dad and I spent the afternoon at All Metal Salvage clearing out decades of scrap aluminum and other junk he’d been holding onto. What started as a chore turned into one of the last good days I got to spend with him. The crew there made it easy—no hassle, just good people doing their jobs. I’ll always remember that day. ---

You’re gonna want to bring snacks if you’re loading a semi at Building 3. Like, *a lot* of snacks. The line moves slower than molasses in January, and you’ll lose half your day—and probably some cash—waiting around. Not worth the headache unless you’ve got nothing else to do. ---

For Swift/TransMex, the process is simple: check in, head to the scale, and they’ll ask for your release number (make sure your driver gives it to you first). Then it’s over to Building 3 to load up—just bring four straps, and you’re good to go. No surprises, no wasted time. ---

Skip this location—it’s a total waste of time. Just getting weighed takes 45 minutes, and unloading and re-weighing? Forget about it. You’re looking at half a day just to get out of there. ---

The office here makes selling scrap a nightmare. They drag things out instead of just getting the job done. Why make it harder than it needs to be? ---
