Look, I get it—some places aren’t exactly warm and fuzzy, but the person at the front desk here was just… off. Not outright rude, but close enough that I didn’t feel like coming back. If you’re the type who doesn’t care about small talk, fine, but there’s a difference between being no-nonsense and being flat-out unwelcoming. ---
I’ve lived in Atwater for six years and had no idea this junkyard existed—pretty sure most people don’t either. The employees? Solid. Friendly, hardworking, the kind of folks who actually seem to enjoy their jobs. That’s rare enough these days. But here’s the kicker: the prices. I was ready to give this place one star because Merced’s scrap rates are already a buck and a half behind Modesto, and this yard is another dollar behind *them*. When I asked about aluminum and they quoted me a dollar less than the highest Merced place—which is already a buck sixty behind three Modesto spots—it clicked. Five bucks for 500 pounds of scrap here? Nine bucks for 190 pounds in Merced. Do the math. It’s not even close. Good people, bad deal.
