Overview

J&A Auto Parts in Phoenix, Arizona

J&A Auto Parts is a self-service junkyard in Phoenix. Customers pull their own parts from junked vehicles and pay by weight when they leave. The yard sells used auto parts to DIY mechanics, resellers, and car owners who need affordable replacements.

How it works

J&A Auto Parts lets customers remove parts directly from vehicles in the yard. The inventory includes engines, transmissions, body panels, interior components and other used auto parts. Tools are available for rent or purchase on-site, but customers can bring their own.

Parts are priced by weight. After removing parts, customers weigh them at the exit scale before paying. The business doesn’t offer pre-pulled parts or part searches—customers must find and remove parts themselves.

J&A Auto Parts doesn’t buy junk cars directly. For selling an old vehicle, customers can look for local cash-for-cars services in Phoenix.

What to bring

  • Your own tools if you want to avoid rental fees
  • Work gloves and protective clothing
  • A flashlight for checking parts in darker areas
  • A measuring tape to check part dimensions
  • Cash or a card for payment at the exit scale

The guys here went above and beyond to answer all my questions and tracked down exactly what I needed. Even if you’re just browsing, call them first. I’ll be back for sure.

I needed a specific engine and checked J A Auto. I grabbed the wrong one by mistake but called them anyway. Irvin, who I spoke to, told me to bring it back for an exchange with no hassle and reset my warranty start date, plus he apologized for the confusion. While I was there, he found a couple more parts I asked about at good prices. The whole thing was smooth, and I’ll definitely shop there again.

This place is solid since they hired a new counter guy a couple weeks ago—ask for Gordo or Paisa. Service was quick and smooth, no issues at all. I recommend it.

J&A Auto Parts always takes care of me. Every time I walk in, the staff knows exactly what I need, prices are fair, and they’re fast. Great experience every visit—you won’t find better service around here.

When I phoned to ask if they had a certain car, I was parked on hold for ten minutes. They finally came back and admitted I’d been waiting, but then dropped me back on hold without helping anyone else first.

Tried calling this place three times, and every single time, the line just rings until someone finally picks up—only to hang up on me. No voicemail, no callback, nothing. How the hell are they still open? ---

You name the part, they’ve probably got it. Prices are decent, and the staff doesn’t act like they’re doing you a favor just for walking in. Simple as that. ---

Called to see if they had a part I needed—someone picked up, I told them what I was looking for, and then *click*. They hung up. Called back, and now they’re not answering at all. What’s the point of even having a phone if you’re just gonna ignore people?

The kid at the front desk knows me by now—I’m the guy who always stays too late, digging through parts like it’s my own garage. They never once kicked me out or gave me a hard time about it. But yeah, they did charge me way too much for a set of tires and rims one time. Still, they made it right later, so I can’t complain too much. Good people, even if they overcharge sometimes. ---

Called yesterday to check on a part I need, and the person who answered was *not* the kind of professional you’d expect. I gave them my vehicle and part details like they asked, but they messed it up, so I had to correct them. Then they put me on hold. When they came back, instead of telling me about the part, they just started talking trash. What kind of business acts like that when someone’s just asking for a price? ---
