Our family jumped in our used Range Rover for our first big road trip. Halfway there, the dash lit up like a Christmas tree with a warning we’d lose power soon. Total panic. It was Memorial Day weekend, and we still had four hours to go. I spotted the Land Rover shop in Des Moines still open and called—no loaners left, most techs gone home. Then Arvin Sox stepped up. He waited late, met us after closing, got manager approval on the spot, and handed us a loaner so we could keep going. He chased parts, chased warranty approvals, kept us in the loop every day. After the fix he took the Rover for a spin just to be sure. Arvin became the relative we didn’t have. That level of care? Never seen it before or since.

West Des Moines Land Rover/Volvo turned out better than I expected thanks to Kurt Larson. He walked me through every option without pushing, answered every dumb question, made it simple. Didn’t have what I wanted, but later I sold them a car. Easy to talk to, zero sales pressure. Would go back to Kurt in a heartbeat.

The Jag’s trim got smacked—partly my wife’s fault—and Eldridge Body Shop couldn’t finish the repair. They removed half the dash and still couldn’t lock down the fasteners. Solid for paint and small touch-ups, but skip the tricky trim gig. Willis Jaguar in Des Moines saved the day. I drove 170 miles with the new part, walked in at 4:15 p.m., got an estimate, and they set it aside to start at eight the next morning. They rented a 2025 Mazda for twenty-five bucks so I could get home. Hit the road at eight, drove three hours back, and they had the Jag looking brand new when I arrived.

I bought my Range Rover somewhere else, they called about a recall, picked it up. Instead of my Rover I got a Buick Envision with half a tank—even though they said the driver needed a full tank when they picked it up. I told the advisor I was disappointed. Got put on hold and passed to their manager. He pretty much said most dealers wouldn’t even give loaners or pick-up service and argued that other customers wanted Rovers more. I said I didn’t care about other dealers; this is a Land Rover shop, fix my car. Asked for the same full tank back. They said no way. Then he suggested I could just take my Rover back and send the driver away. Total lack of respect. Fuel gauge stayed on a quarter when they finally returned the Envision. Worst dealership experience in months from service to management—just unacceptable.

Let me tell you, I made the drive from Chicago all the way to Des Moines just to find the right car—and it was 100% worth it. The second I pulled in, I knew I’d hit the jackpot. They had exactly what I wanted, and the whole team made the process smooth as butter. Todd, though? That guy deserves a medal. He talked me through everything over the phone, locked it down fast, and had the whole thing wrapped up in a few hours. Seriously, one of the easiest, most stress-free car buys I’ve ever done.

Kurt and Bobby at the junkyard went above and beyond for us. Kurt made sure every little thing was taken care of—no detail slipped through the cracks. Meanwhile, Bobby somehow found *exactly* the car we’d been looking for, and he didn’t just hand it over—he made the whole process feel like we were getting VIP treatment. Now we’re driving around in the perfect ride, and honestly? Couldn’t be happier. ---

I walked in thinking this was gonna be a quick, easy pickup. My bank already approved the loan, and I’d even called ahead to let them know. But the second I got there, they hit me with a roadblock: *"Oh, if you’re not using our finance company, this car isn’t leaving today."* Then they dropped the real kicker—*"Your bank’s check won’t even get here for three days."* And the worst part? They *knew* this before I showed up. Didn’t say a word. Then one of them laughed and said, *"You think we’d just let you drive off with a car we haven’t been paid for?"* Like, what was the point of me even coming in? ---

Haven’t bought anything from these guys yet, but I’ve got nothing but good things to say so far. My Defender’s got a few weird quirks that are a pain to track down, but their techs and the service manager haven’t let me twist in the wind. They actually *call me back*, keep me updated, and don’t make me feel like I’m bothering them with questions. At this point, I’d trust them to get my truck running smooth—no surprises, no headaches. Just solid people doing their job right. ---

They wouldn’t even let me leave a zero-star review—how’s that for customer service? Two months. *Two months* of getting the runaround, eight phone calls, and finally, an appointment. So I took a day off, drove two hours, and what do I get? *"Oh, it’ll be $250 an hour just to look at it, and we’re booked solid for five days."* What was the point of the appointment, then? I should bill *them* for my time at that rate. No fix, no answers, just a waste of my money and patience. Consider me gone—for good.

Big shoutout to the team at Land Rover of Des Moines for making the whole buying process a breeze. I was juggling a crazy work schedule, and they never once rushed me or acted like I was an inconvenience—even when I had to roll in late to sign papers. They walked me through every part of the Range Rover, explained the paperwork without the fine-print headache, and wrapped everything up efficiently. No fluff, no hassle. Just a smooth, professional experience from start to finish. ---
