I’m here all the time, pretty much every day or every other day. The woman working the counter is great, and the guys who take your scrap are too—the one who hands me cash even has cool nails. We came in once when my husband and I were thirsty, and he gave us a few bucks just to grab drinks. Can’t recommend this spot enough.

Their scale must’ve been off today. I deal with scrap every single day, so I know what I’m talking about. The weight they gave me—360 pounds—wasn’t even close. My truck was definitely squatting more than usual, and I normally clear well over half a ton. Two hundred pounds off is no joke, especially when you’re working hard for every dollar.

Stopped by today, weighed my medal, and saw it was heavier than what their scale showed. Brought it somewhere else and found out I was 500 pounds heavier. Even an LMS worker admitted their scales were messed up. They shouldn’t still be letting people lose out like that—it’s wrong. Don’t bother with LMS at 808 Walnut in East St. Louis.

Stopped by to grab a part for a buddy’s truck, and honestly, the place seemed solid. No weird vibes, no hassle—just a straightforward spot to drop off scrap if you’re in Illinois. Didn’t need much, but what I saw looked fine. ---

Look, the unloading setup here is a pain—seriously, they need to fix that. But other than that? Scrap Dat’s on the level. No shady business, no surprises. Just a no-nonsense scrap yard that pays what they say they’ll pay. ---

Hands down, the best rates in the area. And the guys running the place? Good people. No drama, no games—just fair prices and decent folks who don’t waste your time. ---

January 16, 2023—I’d give this place zero stars if I could. Went in expecting to get paid for my scrap, and instead, I got stiffed. Not only that, but the workers acted like total jerks. Called me names, mocked me, even got in my face like they wanted to throw down—all because I had the nerve to be upset about not getting paid. Wouldn’t send my worst enemy here unless they *wanted* to get screwed over. ---

Brought in 15 pounds of crushed cans and 18 pounds of mixed brass, figuring this was the place to go for the best rates. Instead, they paid me for 9 pounds of brass and 8 pounds of cans. Asked why? The scale guy just shrugged and said, *“Oh well, too bad,”* before walking off to the breakroom like I was wasting his time. Only recommend this joint if you’re *trying* to get lowballed.
