Overview

Payless Salvage Auto Parts - Phoenix, Arizona

Payless Salvage Auto Parts is a self-service junkyard at 2121 West Broadway Road in Phoenix. The business sells used auto parts from salvaged vehicles and operates on a u-pull-it model where customers remove parts themselves. Inventory includes engines, transmissions, suspension components, axles, body panels, and other mechanical and body parts. The yard also buys scrap metal and unwanted car parts for cash.

Services and what to expect

Payless Salvage works as a self-service yard. Customers walk the yard, identify needed parts, then remove them using their own tools or equipment rented on-site. The business doesn't offer disassembly services. Parts are sold as-is from vehicles that have been crushed or dismantled. The yard stocks components for many domestic and import makes and models, with new inventory added regularly from incoming salvage vehicles.

Customers usually bring their own tools including wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, and pry bars. Some specialty tools may be available for rent or purchase at the counter. A limited selection of basic tools is usually available, but bringing your own is recommended for most jobs. The yard is arranged with vehicles separated by make and model where possible, making part location easier for common vehicles.

Payless Salvage also pays cash for scrap metal and unwanted car parts. Accepted items include catalytic converters, radiators, alternators, starters, and other recyclable components. Payment rates vary by material type and current market prices.

Customer feedback

Reviews mention the yard's knowledgeable staff and straightforward service. Multiple reviewers praise Eddie and his brothers for their customer service and technical knowledge. Positive comments include fair pricing, honest assessments of part condition, and willingness to refund when mistakes occur. Some customers report long wait times for parts to be located or prepared, and occasional issues with part condition not matching expectations.

Negative experiences include parts that needed additional repairs shortly after installation, damaged rims sold without disclosure, and long wait times after arriving for a promised part. These issues appear to be exceptions rather than the norm.

Frequently asked questions

Can't recall the last time I bothered leaving an online review, but this place deserved it. From start to finish, they treated me right—no hidden fees, straight talk about what I owed, and they kept me in the loop the whole time. You don’t come across many repair places you can actually trust these days, but this one’s different. I’ll be back without a doubt.

I had an engine put in here back in April 2024. A few months later, my car started leaking oil. After throwing more money at it, my mechanic told me the oil pan wasn’t sealed right during the install—something that should’ve been caught in a basic inspection. When I called the shop about it, they brushed me off because “it’s been over a year.” Never mind that Arizona law says hidden issues like this count from when you find them, not when they happened. I’ve spent over $2,300 fixing their mistake—more than the engine cost. They don’t care about doing the job right, just taking your money. Don’t go here unless you’ve got no other choice. ---

Honestly, this place is one of the better auto parts shops in Phoenix—maybe even the top three in Arizona. The brothers who run it are always on their game, and they’re just good people to deal with. I messed up an order once, and instead of making me jump through hoops, they offered to refund me right away. I told them no, I’d just wait for the right part, and they didn’t push it. That’s the kind of place this is—fair, easygoing, and actually helpful. If I need parts, I’m coming back. ---

Eddie and his brothers at Payless Salvage Auto Parts are the real deal. I’ve dealt with a lot of auto shops, and these guys stand out because they actually care. Eddie’s customer service is solid—no fake smiles, just straight-up good help. They don’t just sell you a part; they make sure it’s the right one, explain things clearly, and don’t waste your time. You don’t find that everywhere. I’ll be back, and I’m telling everyone I know to go there too. ---

We walked in just looking for a few options, but left with way more than we expected. The whole crew was great, especially Eddie—he knew his stuff, didn’t try to upsell us, and got us in and out the same day with a solid deal. No hassle, no runaround. If you need parts or help, this is the place to go. ---

Skip this shop. I called ahead, gave them plenty of time to get the part ready, and they told me 45 minutes. I drove an hour to get there, and Victor acted like I was bothering him when I said I wasn’t happy about waiting another 30 minutes. Oh, and the rim I got? Badly damaged. They never mentioned that on the phone when I asked how it looked. Rude, unprofessional, and not worth the trouble.
