Overview

Pick Your Part - Oklahoma City

Pick Your Part in Oklahoma City is a self-service auto salvage yard where you can find and remove your own used car parts. The yard has a large selection of vehicles—cars, trucks, and SUVs—in different stages of disassembly. You bring your own tools and pay by weight for the parts you take. The yard is open six days a week, with longer hours on weekends. No appointment is needed—just show up during business hours to start your search.

How It Works & What to Expect

Pick Your Part runs on a self-service model, meaning you handle the part selection and removal yourself. The yard stocks a broad range of used auto parts, from engines and transmissions to body panels, interior components, and mechanical parts. Tools aren’t provided, so you’ll need to bring your own. Payment is based on weight, with scales on-site for weighing your parts.

Self-Service Process

  • Visit during open hours and browse the inventory for the parts you need.
  • Parts are labeled with condition codes (like "Good," "Fair," or "Salvage") to help you judge their condition.
  • Once you’ve picked your parts, they’re weighed on the yard’s scales.
  • Pay at the checkout counter based on the total weight.
  • Bring your own tools—none are supplied for part removal.

What to Bring

  • Tools for removing parts (wrenches, sockets, pry bars, etc.).
  • A vehicle or trailer to haul parts away.
  • Cash, debit, or credit card (check the website for accepted payment types).
  • Gloves and safety gear—the yard can have sharp metal or debris.

Parts Available

The yard carries parts from domestic and foreign vehicles, including:

  • Engines and transmissions (condition and compatibility noted).
  • Body panels (doors, fenders, hoods, bumpers).
  • Interior parts (seats, dashboards, trim, wiring harnesses).
  • Suspension and drivetrain (control arms, axles, differentials).
  • Electrical components (alternators, starters, sensors, lights).
  • Braking systems (calipers, rotors, master cylinders).

Parts aren’t guaranteed to be in perfect shape, so check them carefully before taking them. The yard doesn’t offer warranties on used parts.

Paid $90 for a used wheel on Saturday, and they told me they’d try to pull it that day or definitely by Sunday morning. No call on Sunday. No phone number to call for that location on S. MacArthur. Showed up at 4 PM Sunday, and they said it wasn’t ready but would call. Still no call, and the place was already closed. Terrible service.

Bought a lower air filter housing from Pick Your Part OKC and didn’t get a receipt. While loading up tools and parts, I noticed the back connecting point for the top filter housing was already broken. The broken spot was filthy, so it had been damaged for a while. They wouldn’t let me trade it or refund my money. Now I’m out $31 for a broken piece of junk.

Needed a transmission oil pan and found one that looked decent at first. Took it home, soaked it in solvent to clean it up, and realized the yard had already punched a hole in the side and plugged it with a rubber stopper. Funny enough, the cleaning washed off the marker they use to mark sold parts. Now I’m stuck with a useless pan. The staff swore they remembered selling it to me but refused to replace it, even after I pointed out they’d sold me a damaged part with no warning. A guy nearby heard the whole thing and stayed quiet until the manager finally showed up. That manager couldn’t have cared less and just shrugged it off. I’ve bought parts here for years and never had issues, but this is on him. From now on, I’ll return the favor with some "weaponized incompetence" of my own.

Called LKQ Pull Apart twice to ask what we needed to bring to sell our car. Both times they gave us the runaround about what to bring. We rented a tow dolly, drove over 50 miles, and when we got there, they hit us with new demands—the title had to be notarized, and we needed a lien release. They never mentioned that on the phone, twice. Just straight-up unprofessional. One-star from us. Asking for specifics and getting the wrong info not once but twice is ridiculous.

Walked in for a used door latch cable for my 2012 Honda Pilot and got quoted $22.58. Found the exact same brand-new part online for $17.85, so I left empty-handed. That $6 entry fee for me and my boyfriend didn’t help either—we got nothing but a bad deal and a long walk through the yard. Spent over an hour hunting for the part, only to find it stuck all the way in the back row, row 51, spot 14. The heat didn’t make it any better. No price match, no discount, no apology—just frustration. Won’t be coming back.

Prices here have shot up since the corporate buyout, and it’s not right. Back in the day, a single piston was $17.99. Now? $99. It’s all about lining shareholders’ pockets instead of helping customers. If you’ve got the time, just order online—Amazon’s cheaper, and a lot of their stuff is priced just as high as new parts at the local shops. Skip this place if you can. ---

Honestly, I love the whole scavenger hunt vibe of this place—it’s like digging for treasure, but with car parts instead of gold. The $2 cover charge for women is a bummer, but hey, at least it’s fair. Just tell them what you’re after (make, model, year), and they’ll pull up a list of matching cars and where to find them in the yard. They even check your tool bag or purse to make sure you’ve got the basics before you head out. Grab your ratchet set, maybe an umbrella (that sun is no joke), and start yanking parts yourself. Simple as that. ---

I’d give this place zero stars if I could. Tried to charge me $600 for a plastic intake manifold and an alternator for a 5.3L LS—brand-new ones at the auto store cost less. And the front desk staff? Downright rude. Wouldn’t go back, wouldn’t recommend. ---

These guys were a lifesaver. Gave my mom way more than her old car was worth, and they were friendly the whole time. Great spot for used parts, and I’ve gotten solid tips from them too. If you’re looking for reliable help, this is the place.

We sold our old car to these guys, and they did exactly what they said they would. No surprises, no runaround—just a fair price and a smooth process. Made the whole thing way easier than I thought it’d be. Appreciate it. ---
