AAA Auto Parts Rosemount: Your Trusted Auto Salvage Yard in Minnesota

Located at 2871 160th St W, Rosemount, MN 55068, AAA Auto Parts has been serving the Twin Cities area with quality recycled auto parts since 1989. This family-owned automotive recycling facility has established itself as a leading provider of green recycled OEM parts for both repair shops and DIY customers throughout Minnesota.

Establishment and History

AAA Auto Parts was founded by Gerald and James Anderson who developed the Rosemount site in 1989. Over the years, the business has grown substantially while remaining in family hands. The current owners represent the next generation of Andersons:

  • Pete Anderson
  • Chris Anderson
  • Brian Anderson
  • Amy Anderson Schulz

The family began transitioning ownership in 2002 when they added a second location in East Bethel, allowing the younger generation to gradually take over operations. This careful succession planning has ensured the business maintains its founding values while adapting to modern automotive recycling practices.

The Rosemount facility spans an impressive 28.65 acres and employs over 65 people, making it one of the largest members of the Auto Recyclers of Minnesota. This scale reflects their significant presence in the Minnesota automotive recycling landscape, where new junkyard approvals are described as “next to impossible” due to regulatory challenges.

Popular Auto Parts

When shopping at auto salvage yards like AAA Auto Parts, certain parts are consistently in high demand due to their cost when new and their availability as quality used options. Here are the most commonly purchased parts (excluding consumables like belts and filters):

1. Engines and Transmissions

These are the most expensive parts to replace new, making recycled options particularly attractive. Engines for popular models like Ford F–150, Chevrolet Tahoe, and Honda Civic are frequently sought after, as are transmissions for vehicles such as Dodge Ram 2500 or Nissan Altima.

2. Body Panels and Exterior Parts

After collisions, replacing doors, hoods, bumpers, fenders, and quarter panels can be expensive. AAA Auto Parts offers recycled exterior parts for models including Ford Explorer, Cadillac DTS, and Kia Optima.

3. Electrical and Mechanical Parts

Alternators, starters, sensors, axles, and suspension parts are popular items because they’re expensive when new but often remain in good condition in recycled vehicles. These parts are especially common for trucks and SUVs like Ford E–350 or GMC Yukon.

4. Interior Parts

Seats, dashboards, steering wheels, and pedals are sought for customization or repair in vehicles such as Honda Odyssey or Chevrolet Impala.

5. Wheels and Tires

Alloy wheels and used tires provide significant cost savings, especially for models like Subaru Outback or Volkswagen Jetta.

If you’re looking to find the best deals on used tires and wheels, AAA Auto Parts should be on your list of places to check for quality options at competitive prices.

Warranty Information

AAA Auto Parts stands behind the quality of their parts with a solid warranty program:

  • Standard Warranty: Six-month coverage on all parts
  • Extended Labor Option: Additional twelve-month labor warranty available
  • Return Process: Straightforward returns for defective parts under warranty

This warranty coverage includes diagnostics, labor, and parts costs for approved claims. While the search results don’t mention specific pricing for the warranty extensions, the standard six-month warranty comes with all parts purchases.

It’s worth noting that AAA also offers Vehicle Protection Plans separate from their parts warranties. These plans cover vehicle repairs rather than individual parts and start at different price points:
– Full-Service Coverage: Starts at $66/month
– Hi-Tech Vehicle Coverage: Starts at $40/month
– Tire & Wheel Protection: Starts at $34/month

These service contracts are flexible, with both subscription and term-based payment options available.

When visiting auto salvage yards, having the right tools can make a big difference in successfully removing the parts you need. While AAA Auto Parts operates as a full-service facility (rather than self-service), it’s still helpful to understand what tools are typically needed for different automotive parts.

Basic Hand Tools

  • Socket sets (SAE/metric) for bolts and nuts
  • Wrenches (adjustable, box-end, or open-end) for tight spaces
  • Screwdrivers (flathead and Phillips) for fasteners
  • Pry bars or hammers for removing stuck parts

Specialized Tools by Part Type

  • Engine/Transmission: Torque wrench, breaker bar, impact sockets
  • Body Panels: Trim removal tools, dent pullers, panel pry tools
  • Electrical Parts: Wire cutters, multimeter, insulated screwdrivers (for EVs)
  • Suspension/Brakes: Brake tool sets, C-clamps, spring compressors
  • Interior Parts: Trim removal tools, panel pry tools, screwdrivers

Key Safety Considerations

  • Protection: Always wear gloves and eye protection when handling sharp edges or heavy parts
  • Testing: Bring a tire pressure gauge or multimeter to test parts before purchase
  • Transportation: Use tie-down straps or rope to secure parts during transport

For specialty tasks like dent repair, tools such as the Collision Edge Dent Viewer™ or Killer Tools Bumper Hole Punch may be needed.

People working are extremely nice and helpful. I drove from Duluth and they stayed open a couple minutes late to help me load the engine I bought. Only problem I had was with my engine. It had a valve stuck, probably just from sitting. They did reach out to me and try to make my experience better. They clearly care about your customer experience.

The sunroof on my truck broke and flew off onto the highway. I placed an order for a replacement sunroof and ran into some issues at first, until Shane got involved. Shane’s knowledge, professionalism, and concern erased any doubt in my mind that I came to the right place. He followed up when I missed a call to pick up my parts, he listened to my concerns and was very polite and patient, and even helped me figure out that I had an after market sunroof which saved me time and kept me from buying the wrong parts. Shane is part of AAA so it’s a W for the team, but sometimes teams have superstars. Thanks Shane!!!

Wasted 4 hours of my time by them not grading bumpers accurately. List them as A grade with no defects and they are clearly scratched and chipped. And they pull a cloth seat when I asked for leather. Ridiculous.
