Honestly this more like a park or educational/research facility rather than a landfill. Sculptures made from scrap, verdant grassy areas, and prim clean looking buildings are the norm. Little to no stinky garbage smells. The workers are helpful and always seem to be in a good mood. Areas for various types of trash are clearly marked and easy to find. I did knock a star off for doubling their dumping fee since start of pandemic and for some utterly inexplicable reason they are closed on Saturdays (you know, the day most people are free to make a trip to the dump) except by appointment. That aside, no issues with the facilities.

I have owned fixer up homes in Arizona, California, and Florida. Taken my remodel trash to landfills.
Linn County Iowa has the cleanest, easy to dump landfill I have ever seen.
And the car/truck scale attendant lady was friendly, informative, and polite.
I'm impressed by a government “agency” for the first time ever.

Out of all the landfills I've been to, (and I've been to a lot in various states around the US) this is my favorite because the people are so friendly. A lot of the time I look forward to pulling up to the scale because I know I can get a laugh or two. Everyone there is so kind and humorous exactly what a lot of us need to help pass the day after a hard day's work. I can honestly say that that's the highlight of my day going through the Marion Landfill scale and laughing and joking with those good people. And I wouldn't change it for nothing in the world.

The folks working here are courteous and friendly. Everytime I've had a question, (which I'm sure they've heard 1,000 times) they were polite and were detailed in their instructions. The grounds are very up kept and honestly, the facilities are very nice. Very streamlined. In and out.

I enjoy having the landfill close enough I can get rid of rubbish.
However I do think the hours could be a bit better. What I wish could happen is that people that are dumping small garbage and Recycling could come a little later. Its difficult for me to go 1st this in the mornings. After work would be best. I'd say staying open till like 730pm or so wouldn't be a bad thing. I know a TON of others that feel the same.
