Full-Service vs. Self-Service Approach
Unlike some “u-pull-it” yards, East Coast Auto Salvage operates on a full-service model. They employ a professional sales team and parts specialists who assist customers in finding exactly what they need. This approach means you don’t need to wander through rows of vehicles searching for parts yourself.
Their team handles the removal of parts, ensuring proper extraction without damage, which is particularly valuable for those without specialized tools or mechanical expertise. This service model has made them a preferred choice for many customers who appreciate the added convenience and expertise.
Vehicle Types and Inventory
East Coast Auto Salvage specializes in late model vehicles (1995 and newer), focusing on foreign and domestic cars and light trucks. Their inventory includes a wide range of makes such as Toyota, Honda, Ford, Chevrolet, BMW, Audi, and others, though specific models rotate as vehicles are processed and parts are sold.
The yard’s focus on newer models ensures that customers have access to more current auto parts that fit modern vehicles, rather than outdated parts for obsolete models. This specialization helps them maintain relevancy in the ever-evolving automotive market.
Whether you need parts for a domestic pickup truck or a foreign sedan, East Coast Auto Salvage likely has suitable options in their inventory. Their comprehensive interchange system (discussed below) further expands the compatibility of their parts with various vehicle makes and models.
Popular Auto Parts Available
The most commonly purchased used auto parts at East Coast Auto Salvage Inc typically include structural and mechanical parts that are cost-effective to reuse rather than replace with new ones. Based on industry practices and inventory patterns, these parts are frequently sought after:
Body and Exterior Parts
Doors, hoods, and fenders: These are often replaced due to collision damage or rust
Side mirrors and windshields: Glass and mirror assemblies are commonly sourced for repairs
Used car hoods can save hundreds of dollars compared to new ones
Engine and Drivetrain Parts
Engines and transmissions: High-value parts that are reused if functional
Motors and OEM parts: Critical systems like alternators or starters are frequently replaced
Headlights and taillights: Replaced for damage or upgrades
If your headlights are damaged or cloudy, finding used car headlights can be a practical alternative to expensive new ones
These parts are prioritized due to their durability and cost savings compared to new replacements. East Coast Auto Salvage emphasizes inspecting parts for quality before resale, ensuring reliability for buyers.

Common Questions About Junkyards Like East Coast Auto Salvage
1. Can I sell my car to a junkyard without a title?
Most junkyards require a title to legally transfer ownership, but some states allow sales without one if the vehicle is older than 10 years and you provide valid ID and registration. If the title is lost, you may need to obtain a replacement from the DMV, which involves fees and processing time. Without a title, the vehicle is typically sold for scrap value.
2. How do junkyards operate when buying cars?
Junkyards like East Coast Auto Salvage Inc assess vehicles based on make, model, year, mileage, and damage to determine value. They offer free towing and instant quotes after evaluating the car’s condition. Some specialize in salvage (rebuilding vehicles) or scrap (recycling parts), while others focus on specific brands like Honda or BMW.
3. What’s the process for buying parts from a junkyard?
At full-service yards like East Coast Auto Salvage, professionals help you locate and remove the parts you need. At self-service “U-Pick” yards, customers bring tools to remove parts themselves, often paying a small entry fee. Always inspect parts for damage and check for leaks (e.g., oil pans, AC parts). Many yards use platforms like car-part.com to locate parts across networks.
4. How do junkyards determine payment for my car?
Payment is based on the vehicle’s year, make, model, and condition. Additional details like mileage and damage help refine the offer. Junkyards may pay via check, direct deposit, or other methods, often providing instant quotes after evaluation.
5. Do I need to pay for towing when selling my car?
No—most junkyards, including East Coast Auto Salvage Inc, offer free towing services to transport the vehicle to their facility.
6. What documentation is required to sell my car?
A title is typically required, but some states accept registration and a valid ID if the vehicle is over 10 years old. After selling, return license plates to the DMV and cancel insurance if applicable.
7. Are junkyards open on weekends?
Many junkyards operate 7 days a week, including Sundays, though hours may vary. East Coast Auto Salvage is closed on weekends, so it’s important to confirm hours directly with any facility you plan to visit.

I love this place. The gentleman that answered the phone has such a pleasant personality with a charming accent. I called 13 other places and he had the part I needed…Made me a happy girl. He is very organized, knowledgeable and seems to have everything inventoried (other places I called were more of a pick & pull and said I could search their yard). He also tried cross referencing other truck models to see if an alternate part would work. Very refreshing to buy the part I needed from here and you really feel valued as a customer. It's so rare to meet someone with such an awesome personality as well. I'm very appreciative

Would give zero stars. Was guaranteed an alternator would be available in one day, now at the end of day three with no update besides “it might be sitting on my desk in a package”. They are closed on the weekend. Terrible customer service and run company. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM
