Comprehensive Services Offered
Forest Wrecker Services provides a wide range of automotive solutions to customers in Lewiston and surrounding areas. Their business model combines multiple service areas to meet diverse customer needs.
Service Category
Specific Offerings
Recovery Services
Professional towing, mobile repair assistance, vehicle recovery from accidents
Auto Parts Sales
Used auto and truck parts through Forest Auto & Truck Parts division
Junkyard Operations
Full-service salvage yard with parts removal and inventory management

The business operates as a full-service junkyard rather than self-service, meaning their staff handles the dismantling and inventorying of parts. This approach ensures better quality control and organization of their auto parts inventory. For customers looking to find quality used car seats at local junkyards, their full-service model means parts have been professionally removed and inspected.
While the search results don’t specifically mention part shipping services, their business model suggests they may offer this service for customers needing parts delivered, though direct confirmation would be required.
Vehicle Types and Inventory
Forest Wrecker Service Forest Auto & Truck Parts maintains a diverse range of vehicles in their yard, supporting their role as a car carrier and auto/truck parts provider. With their fleet of 7 trucks, they have the capacity to handle various vehicle types to meet customer needs.
Based on their operational scope, Forest Wrecker Services likely works with:
Cars, SUVs, Minivans, and Vans – Common vehicles for parts sourcing
Pickups and Trucks (including commercial vehicles) – Aligning with their “Truck Parts” branding
Motorcycles – Standard for full-service salvage yards
Other specialized vehicles – Including larger equipment when available
Their interstate operations suggest they source vehicles from a wider geographic area, potentially offering a more diverse selection than smaller, locally-focused yards. This is particularly valuable for customers seeking rare or specific auto parts for less common vehicles.
The most commonly purchased items at salvage yards like Forest Wrecker Services typically include durable, high-cost parts that retain their value when sourced used. These parts represent the best value for money when purchased from a quality salvage yard in Idaho.
Major Mechanical Parts
Engines and transmissions: These big-ticket items can cost thousands when new but are often available at 50–60% savings at junkyards
Alternators and starters: Electrical parts that typically maintain good functionality when properly tested
Radiators and cooling systems: Often available in good condition and at significant savings
Body and Structural Parts
Doors, hoods, and trunk lids: Perfect for collision repairs or restoration projects
Bumpers and fenders: Exterior panels frequently needed after minor accidents
Wheels and tires: Popular upgrades or replacements at fraction of new cost
Interior Components
Seats and dashboards: Valuable for restoration projects or interior upgrades
Steering wheels and trim: Used for cosmetic improvements
Center consoles and door panels: Often in good condition and significantly cheaper than new
Electrical Systems
Wiring harnesses: Critical for solving electrical issues
Headlight assemblies: Frequently purchased due to damage or for upgrades
Electronic control modules: Often available at substantial savings over new
These parts are excellent candidates for used purchase because they typically don’t wear out quickly like maintenance items such as filters or brake pads. Forest Wrecker Services, like other quality salvage yards, focuses on parts that offer the best value and reliability when purchased used.

Auto Parts Interchange System
While no explicit details about Forest Wrecker Service’s specific parts interchange system are available, their operation as a wrecker service and auto parts provider suggests they likely employ industry-standard approaches to parts compatibility and sourcing.
How They Help Customers Find Compatible Parts
Salvage Inventory Management:
Their operation likely includes dismantling vehicles and maintaining a searchable inventory of reusable parts
With 7 trucks and interstate operations, they can source parts from various vehicles, enabling cross-referencing across different makes and models
Interchange System Utilization:
Many auto parts providers use industry databases (like Hollander or PartSmart) to identify parts compatibility across vehicle makes/models
This allows them to match parts from their inventory that will work with a customer’s specific vehicle
Customer Assistance:
Staff likely helps customers by:
Cross-referencing part numbers through VIN decoding or parts catalogs
Sourcing rare parts through salvage networks
Potentially offering remanufacturing services for certain parts
For customers seeking to find the best deals on used tires and wheels, this interchange knowledge is particularly valuable, as tire and wheel compatibility across different makes and models can be complex.

Cash for Junk Cars Program
Forest Wrecker Service at 3970 Forest Hill Ln, Lewiston, ID 83501, operates primarily as an auto transport and towing company rather than a junk car buyer based on available information. Their registered business name “FOREST WRECKER SERVICE FOREST AUTO & TRUCK PARTS” (USDOT #237727) indicates they specialize in interstate auto transport and towing services.
No explicit mention of purchasing junk cars from the public or offering cash-for-cars programs is found in their listed services. This suggests their primary business model focuses on towing and parts supply rather than vehicle acquisition from individuals.
For Lewiston residents looking to sell junk cars for cash, alternative local services like Jrop explicitly buy junk cars in any condition, offering cash payouts and free towing. These services might be more appropriate for those looking to sell unwanted vehicles.

Rated this company 1/5
Wish I could give a review with negative stars. The owner preyed on me, a women in a accident suffering from a concussion and broken neck. I believe the owner purposefully lied to scam more money out of us, telling us the vehicle could move. Upon arrival the vehicle could not move. Staff offered help but THE OWNER STOPPED THEM saying if we wanted help it would cost an extra $200. We would have happily brought our chain hoist and come-along if we weren't lied to. Don't use.

Clased to see about a truck part, because the website says auto parts supplier. And the woman who took my call screamed at me that they only are a wrecking company. And I asked for she know where I could find used parts, she screamed even louder there are no parts. Never will I do business with these people or recommend them. Horrible customer service.
