This morning, I drove to the Onstate Recycling Center to unload paint cans and chemical items too dangerous to put in waste containers for city pickup. I called beforehand to assure all I needed to do was drive into the yard at 5825 E. State Street and someone would come out to unload my car trunk. A worker did just that (and wore a mask). It took 2 minutes, not the 15 listed on the website.
It felt so good to accomplish a task long overdue and before snow starts sticking and roads become icy.
There are other services that will pick up from your home ($5 per gallon paint container, $2 per quart). But the Onstate drop-off center was so close and convenient, it felt just as good going there as voting did!
Oh, how little things can cheer these days!
