I have picked up steel from Pacific for years. I use to go with my dad when he was still working. Until todayi alway have had a great experience, been very helpful.
Unfortunately this company has decided that the little guy no longer matters. You can mo longer just stop in and pick up a metal unless you are spending $300 plus. It is unfortunate and quite inconvenient.

Ordered metal for a project and was told it would be ready the next day. I Called the next day 2 hours ahead and was told it would be ready. Got there and paid, THEN was told part of my order was not ready. Wasted my time, delayed my project, cost gas money for another trip. Employees offered no apology or compensation. Terrible customer service. Will be getting my metal elsewhere in the future.

Drove an 1 1/2 hours for steel and upon arrival we were turned away for not wearing a mask. Ironically by a salesman, not wearing a mask, nor willing to provide one to customers. The manager “Steve” returned the call and We received a lecture about protecting his employees. Apparently customers do not matter, nor is protecting his employees from his other employees a priority: We spend 1000’s of dollars monthly for metals. We will gladly protect them from having to spend a buck on our masks.

I've had a few experiences with Pacific steel and they both been good. The first time I was looking for a small amount of grating to cover a small sump that I had made. They normally sell the grate only in large quantities, but fortunately for me they had some scrap and dug it out for me and sold it at a discount. The last couple of times I bought flat strap and 3/4″ pipe. Both times they cut it to size for me at no charge, which is different from most steel wholesalers that I've dealt with in the past. The desk people have always been polite and helpful. They are a good sized operation for the area and there have been times when I've called to check inventory and have been cut short because they had bigger fish to fry. But they've always courteously explained that they were busy and either called me back or asked if I could call them back later, seemed fair, considering that the steel yards I've dealt with in the past told me to go to a box store for my small quantities. So, if you're time critical, and if you can get similar pricing at box store go for it.

Excellent service, selection and price. I was looking for some square steel tubing to build a trailer ramp. Lowe's has 4 foot sections of 1″ thin wall tubing for $14.97. Pacific Steel had thicker walled 1.25″ tubing for just under $7.00 when cut into 4 foot lengths. If you need steel, this is the place. Leave the big box stores for fertilizer and faucet handles.
