West End Architectural Salvage, located at 22 9th Street in Des Moines, IA 50309, is a treasure trove for salvagers and enthusiasts of vintage architecture. Founded in the early 1990s, the store has grown to become a top destination for finding antique items including doors, windows, lighting fixtures, furniture and other architectural pieces from various eras. When I am in Des Moines I always try to stop in here. It is an amazingly peaceful place to have coffee, relax and wander through several floors of unique vintage items. The staff is very friendly. They have a creative vibe that is infectious. Don’t miss this place.
Whether you’re looking for something to do on a cold weekend, or a place to host an amazing event, west and salvage will not disappoint. We attended their indulge event last night in Downtown Des Moines, and it was amazing. If you haven’t been there, I highly recommend the trip.
I can't say enough about how amazing the staff is at West End Architectural Salvage. We were planning a celebration of life for a family member who passed away very suddenly. I was an emotional, disheveled mess looking for a classy, unique, easy venue for my unusual family. Don gave much needed organization to our absent minds. He softly and gently made suggestions to help us create an absolutely perfect party for our family and friends. The venue is gorgeous. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel like home. By the end of the night, Don felt like family.
It was a Christmas party.
The food that was catered was not very good. The steak wS cold and had no au jus
The veggies were second rate and the rolls were cold too. Probably not a place I would go to again. They have some neat antique stuff that you can look at. The barmaid was hot.
