I have had several times that my bin was not emptied on the designated day. This week was no exception. My driveway is totally cleared, my bin has been full for 2 weeks. We put the bin out on the 21st of December, and it was emptied. We put it out on the 4th of January, and it was skipped. When I called to have them empty it, I was told that last week was the time to put it out and no one will be here to empty it until next week. I am done!!! I pay 3 to 6 months at a time, and what they are doing with their scheduling is idiotic!! Before I hung up the phone, I told their “customer service” person, to send someone to pick up their bin. I am through messing with them!!! No stars, if I could!!
Have had multiple issues where payments have been made only to see the driver skip us on route day. Then call and find out we “didn’t pay” and then the payment was magically found. Straw that broke the camels back was putting out recycling the day before service date at 3 pm and the next day it is not picked up while everyone else on the block got service. Call and speak to a lady who says the driver says it wasn’t out there in time and you have to wait 2 weeks until next pickup date. She then proceeded to speak over me after I told her she was calling me a liar and wouldn’t let me finish a sentence. Then magically the story changed and the driver was having vehicle problems. Crazy enough later that day the bin was picked up and the driver wasn’t having vehicle trouble anymore. Awful customer service. Zero stars if I could.
We did curbside recycling for a year and half. We loved this service and being able to recycle conveniently. We had no issues with western recycling until 4 months ago. They simply stopped coming to our house. I would call the next day to let them know and they sent a truck out a few days later. This became the norm. I got tired of paying for a service that I was not receiving. Very disappointed. When we canceled this service, they said the owner would be contacting us to ask about our experience. We never heard anything. Hoping for a better curbside recycling company in the near future.
I was sitting in a marked parking space in my car the other morning with one of my kids in a school parking lot, waiting to pick up my other child, when a Western Recycling truck pulled into the lot. The driver pulled the truck towards my car and backed up. Since a lot of service trucks come into that lot all the time and usually go down towards the other end, I didn't think anything of it. We were only going to be there for a couple of minutes anyway, so I kept watching for my kid.
But then, the Western Recycling driver pulled forward again and kept getting closer and closer to my car until he was dangerously close. He then started to raise and lower the truck's arms at us in a threatening manner and gesture and yell angrily. He pulled forward and back several more times and repeated the angry behavior, even laying on the truck horn long and loud and disrupting staff and students while school was still in session. His continued harassment of us and out-of-control behavior were making me nervous for not only my and my older child's safety, but especially for my younger child who would be coming from the school and into the lot at any moment. There was NO way I was moving my car since, 1) I was in the marked parking spot I had specifically been told to park in weeks ago by school staff, and 2) I did not want to lose sight of my child or leave her wandering the parking lot trying to find us with this company's driver moving the truck forwards and backwards and behaving so aggressively and dangerously towards us.
I realize Western Recycling drivers probably run on a set schedule, but in my book, safety and respect for others come FIRST. At the very most, this driver was delayed only ~60 seconds between the time he started acting like a total creep to us and the time my child got in the car and we left. If that guy were one of my employees, he'd 100% be fired on the spot. And if he can't control himself or treat others any better than that, then he shouldn't be out on the roads and definitely shouldn't be driving around schools. Road rage has led to so many tragic incidents that there is no way I'd want a hot-headed bully like that out representing my company in any capacity.
I have lodged a complaint with Western Recycling and was told the info would be forwarded to their HR department for further evaluation. I certainly hope that wasn't just talk and that they actually discipline this employee. In the meantime, this traumatic experience has completely soured me on having anything to do with Western Recycling…hence the single star.
