Five years I’ve been bringing my scrap here, and today was the first time I walked out pissed. Juan—the tall guy—was in a foul mood, snapping at me like I was wasting his time. I always bring in clean brass and copper, no junk, and he still managed to screw me over. First, he shorted me $150 on two loads. Then he marked 26 pounds of #2 copper as brass because of one tiny brass T-connector. That alone cost me $46. Next, he called my clean brass "dirty" and docked me another $104. And like the cherry on top, he took off $8.50 for two ounces of weights on my rims—34 pounds of scrap, and he’s nitpicking over two ounces? The office lady even admitted this isn’t the first time someone’s complained about him. I get it, bad days happen, but this was ridiculous. Never had this kind of hassle here before. ---

I’ve been coming here about 20 times in the last two years, give or take. Fair warning, though—I’ve never hit the big scale because I only drive a pickup, and I mostly just sell non-ferrous stuff. Still, it’s been a solid spot for me. ---

Honestly, this place makes selling scrap way easier than most. They get you unloaded fast, so you’re not stuck outside in the rain or mud like at other yards. The guys even point out better ways to sort your metal for the best payout. No wonder they’ve been around so long—it’s just a smoother experience than half the other places out there. ---

If I’ve got anything better than shred, Alter’s my go-to. Their aluminum and copper prices are usually better, and the staff’s always friendly. I’d send anyone I know there without hesitation. ---

Alter’s hands-down the best scrap yard I’ve ever dealt with. Juan and Jesse at the non-ferrous scale are great—they help unload, make you feel welcome, and the drive-thru line means no backing up in a tight space. The girls at payout are super nice, and the bill machine is a lifesaver—no messing with change. For ferrous, you just drive on the scale, drop it off around back, and leave without dealing with a crowded yard. Lisa, the manager, is also really easy to work with. They pay better than any other yard in QC for copper, answer questions without rushing you, and don’t give attitude even when it’s scorching out. My only gripe? They close at 3:30, and I wish they were open Saturdays. But hey, can’t complain too much—love these guys!
