Overview

Auburn Recycling & Scrap Metals, Inc. at 350 Sacramento St, Auburn, CA 95603

Auburn Recycling & Scrap Metals is a self-service auto salvage yard and scrap metal dealer at 350 Sacramento St in Auburn. They sell used auto parts from junked cars and buy scrap metal—including car parts, appliances, and other recyclables. Customers browse the yard themselves to find parts for repairs or projects, and the business also takes scrap metal for recycling. The yard is open weekdays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Sundays and Wednesdays are closed. While they don’t have online reviews, the business has been serving Auburn for years, helping local mechanics, DIYers, and scrap collectors.

Services & What to Expect

Auburn Recycling is a self-service salvage yard, meaning you search the lot for parts on your own. They stock used auto parts from decommissioned vehicles, like engines, transmissions, body panels, and interior components. The yard also buys scrap metal—copper, aluminum, steel, and other recyclables—from the public. Since they don’t list parts online, you’ll need to visit in person to check availability.

How Self-Service Salvage Works

  • Bring your own tools to remove parts from vehicles.
  • Staff don’t help locate or remove parts—you’re on your own.
  • Payments are made on-site with cash or card (check accepted methods before you go).
  • Drop off scrap metal during open hours for weighing and payment.

What to Look For

The yard carries:

  • Engines and transmissions (domestic and foreign)
  • Body panels (doors, hoods, fenders, bumpers)
  • Interior parts (seats, dashboards, trim)
  • Suspension and drivetrain components
  • Electrical parts (wiring harnesses, alternators, starters)
  • Scrap metal (copper, aluminum, steel, brass)
Parts are sold as-is—no warranties or guarantees, so inspect carefully before buying.

Honestly, this place is exactly what you need when you’re trying to offload a car fast. Got my old beater sold in under 20 minutes, cash in my hand, no hassle. No fancy promises, just straightforward business—can’t beat that.

I’ve been coming here for years, and it’s always a smooth process. Even when the place is packed, they move people through fast. Never had to wait long, and the staff doesn’t mess around. If I’ve got recycling to drop off, this is where I go. ---

Skip this place entirely. I hauled in 39 huge bags of aluminum cans—39, all stuffed full—and they tried to tell me it was only 85 pounds. Their scale is set to subtract 15 pounds for the plastic totes, but guess what? They never even put the cans in the totes. Just dumped them straight into flimsy bags that weigh next to nothing. Absolute scam. Don’t waste your time or money here. ---

Found this place no problem—right where it’s supposed to be. Their website had a big claim about paying top dollar for cans and bottles, but that wasn’t my experience. I brought in a batch for a client, and they gave me about $20 less than what I’d get in Roseville. Funny thing is, I actually had *more* this time than last, but still walked away with less. At least the staff was friendly and gave me a receipt so I could prove I turned it in. If you’re trying to maximize your return, smaller loads seem to pay better here. ---

Quick, no-hassle stop. Never a line, and there’s always room to unload whatever you’ve got. Works for me. ---

Small, clean spot with zero nonsense. The staff actually helps you out instead of just standing around. They don’t care if your cans are crushed or if the lids are still on the bottles—just make sure there’s a CRV label on the plastic. One thing to note: they close for lunch between 12 and 12:30. But other than that, I’ll be back. No reason not to.
