Overview

Bib's Auto Parts - Kearny, NJ

Bib's Auto Parts is a self-service auto salvage yard in Kearny, NJ. Customers can find used car parts, scrap metal, and other automotive components by searching the yard themselves. The business also removes junk cars and dismantles vehicles. It’s been a local spot for mechanics, DIYers, and scrap buyers for years. The yard is open Monday through Friday, with shorter hours on Saturdays and closed Sundays.

Services & What to Expect

Bib's Auto Parts is a self-service salvage yard. Customers browse rows of dismantled vehicles to find parts for repairs or projects. The yard stocks parts from different makes and models, but inventory changes as cars come and go. Tools are usually available for rent or purchase on-site to help with part removal.

How Self-Service Salvage Works

To use the self-service area, customers need to:

  • Visit during open hours (no appointment needed)
  • Find the part they need in the yard (organization varies by section)
  • Use provided tools or bring their own to remove the part
  • Pay at the front office by weight or per part (pricing varies)
The yard doesn’t offer part lookup—customers must search for what they need. Staff can answer general questions but can’t guarantee a part is available.

Other Services

Beyond self-service salvage, Bib's Auto Parts offers:

  • Junk car removal: The yard takes non-running vehicles for scrap or parts. Owners can sell old cars —pricing depends on the car’s condition, year, and usable parts.
  • Scrap metal sales: Non-automotive scrap metal is bought and sold on-site.
  • Tool rentals: Basic automotive tools (like wrenches, jacks, and impact guns) may be available for rent if customers don’t bring their own.

  • Work gloves and safety glasses (the yard is an active salvage operation)
  • A list of needed parts (inventory isn’t always labeled clearly)

Absolute scam. Bibs Auto quoted us $340 online for our old Ford truck—27 years old, body in great shape, tons of new parts. They called to confirm the truck was complete and asked if the catalytic converter was still in it. I said yes, because it was. But when the driver showed up, they claimed the converter wasn’t original and docked me $100. How? The truck is 27 years old—how is *anything* still original at that point? Total bait and switch. I should’ve just gone with the Craigslist guy who offered me more money. ---

Avoid this place like the plague. The owner, Tony, is the worst—rude, unhinged, and straight-up unprofessional. If you can find another junkyard, go there instead. I’ve heard horror stories from other customers, and now I’ve got one of my own. They messed up my car, then had the nerve to yell and curse at me like it was my fault. Seriously, just stay far away. ---

Let me tell you, I used to go to this place all the time for parts, but after my last visit, I’m done. The service is terrible, the prices are way too high, and the guy at the counter? Total jerk. I called ahead early in the morning to order parts, but when I showed up at 3 PM, they weren’t even ready. Then, when I checked my bank account, there was an extra $10 charge that wasn’t on the receipt. I asked about it, and this guy just shrugged and said, *"The credit card machine added it."* Like that’s supposed to be an excuse? I told him the receipt didn’t match, and he had the nerve to snap, *"What do you want me to do?"* When I asked for the $10 back—it was a $200 order, for crying out loud—he flat-out said no. And the parts weren’t even pulled from the donor car yet! Then he had the audacity to ask, *"So you want a refund?"* like I was the one being unreasonable. I walked out so pissed I could’ve screamed. I’ve dealt with his bad attitude before, but this time, it was the last straw. I’d rather pay more somewhere else than deal with this nonsense ever again. ---

Danny was a complete waste of my time. He swore up and down that my part was ready, but when I got there, I sat around for an hour—only for him to tell me it’d be *another* hour. I had better things to do than wait around for someone who couldn’t even get their act together. ---

I drove an hour and a half to get there, and for what? The part I wanted? Sold 30 minutes before I arrived. When I asked why they didn’t just tell me sooner, the guy basically said, *"Not my problem. You’re not special."* Real classy. I’ve got friends all over Bergen and Newark, and I’ll make sure none of them ever step foot in this place.
