How does self-service auto salvage work at Biggs Auto Salvage?

The process is simple:

  1. Arrive during business hours and park near the office.
  2. Find the part you need by browsing the yard. Vehicles aren’t always labeled, so check multiple cars if needed.
  3. Remove the part using provided tools (or your own). Some parts require disassembly, so bring tools if necessary.
  4. Weigh the part at the checkout scale.
  5. Pay by the pound at the office. Prices are set per pound and posted at checkout.

Staff don’t assist with part removal, so you’ll need to handle it yourself.

The place shut down after the owner passed away. I’d give it five stars if I could, but that’s not really an option now. ---

Honestly, it was a longer drive than I thought it’d be, but the savings made it worth the trip. My buddy and I went in my truck—needed the bed space for two, maybe three car doors. We ended up with two, but we can always grab the third later if we really need it. The only reason I didn’t give five stars is the aisles were a little tight. You’ve gotta be careful not to scrape your car or pop a tire, but I’m a decent driver, so I managed fine. Still, a little more room wouldn’t hurt. I’d go back in a heartbeat if I needed parts. They’ve got a solid selection of cars to pick from, and you can usually find what you’re looking for. ---

Howard’s place is one of those spots where you can tell the owner actually cares. I’ve been to a lot of junkyards, but he’s the most hands-on, no-nonsense guy I’ve ever met. ---

Mr. Biggs is the real deal—he’ll bend over backward to help you out, and his prices are fair. No nonsense, just good service. ---
