Overview

Bill Dee's Auto Salvage - Houston, Texas

Bill Dee's Auto Salvage is a self-service auto salvage yard in Houston, Texas, where customers can find used auto parts for repair or restoration projects. The yard operates on a "u-pull-it" model, meaning visitors can browse the inventory themselves, locate the parts they need, and remove them with their own tools. The business also offers vehicle dismantling services and sells parts by the pound or by the piece. With over 30 years in the Houston area, Bill Dee's serves as a go-to spot for mechanics, DIYers, and car owners looking for affordable alternatives to new parts.

Services & What to Expect

Bill Dee's Auto Salvage is a self-service yard, so customers handle the search and removal of parts themselves. The yard provides basic tools for part removal, but visitors should bring their own tools if they need specialized equipment. Parts are sold by the pound or by the piece, depending on the item. The yard carries a wide range of used auto parts, including engines, transmissions, body panels, interior components, and mechanical parts from domestic and foreign vehicles.

How Self-Service Works

  • Browse the yard: Customers walk through the inventory to find the parts they need. Vehicles are organized by make, model, and year, but the layout is not always clearly labeled.
  • Locate and remove parts: Once a part is found, customers can remove it using the yard’s basic tools or their own equipment. Staff may assist with part identification or tool access if needed.
  • Weigh and pay: Parts sold by the pound are weighed on-site, while individual parts are priced per piece. Payment is made at the office before leaving.
  • No appointment needed: Walk-ins are welcome during business hours. The yard does not require advance notice for self-service part removal.

What to Bring

  • Your own tools (if specialized equipment is needed for part removal).
  • A vehicle or trailer to transport parts (the yard does not offer delivery or shipping).
  • Cash or a debit/credit card (the office accepts major payment methods).
  • A list of the parts you need, including make, model, and year of the vehicle.

Parts Inventory

The yard’s inventory includes parts from a mix of domestic and foreign vehicles, with a focus on older models and common makes. While the selection changes frequently as new vehicles are dismantled, customers can typically find:

  • Engines and transmissions (manual and automatic).
  • Body panels (doors, hoods, fenders, bumpers).
  • Interior components (seats, dashboards, trim pieces).
  • Suspension and drivetrain parts (control arms, axles, differentials).
  • Electrical components (alternators, starters, wiring harnesses).
  • Braking system parts (calipers, rotors, brake pads).

The yard does not specialize in rare or high-end parts, but it is a reliable source for budget-friendly alternatives to new OEM or aftermarket components. For vehicles that need to be dismantled, Bill Dee's offers a cash for junk cars service, though details on this program are not listed on the website.

I drove all the way here thinking I’d get a simple part swap, but this place is a total scam. Ordered a specific part, got something else entirely, and when I pointed it out, they acted like I was the problem. No one even tried to fix it—just left me standing there while they ignored me. If you value your time or money, go somewhere else. ---

Quick, fair, and no hassle—exactly what I needed. Got good parts at a solid price, and the staff actually helped instead of making things harder. Saved me time and money. Worth a visit if you’re in the area. ---

Tried to buy a headlight assembly, and they hit me with a $250 price tag—even though the same part was sitting on the shelf new for $150. No one bothered to help, just stood there like I was wasting their time. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. ---

Skip this place entirely. Bought a motor, paid in full, and when I tried to return it the next day, they refused. All they gave me was a partial refund—$2,300 short of what I paid. They don’t care about customers, just taking your cash and moving on. Don’t bother. ---

Bought two engines here, and both were junk. One was knocking, the other had block sealer covering a blown head gasket—clearly not from a running wreck. Told them about the knocking, and they made me tow it in just to say they couldn’t do anything. Oh, and the VINs were scratched off both. Paid cash, but they still made me come back for a check, then charged me a fee to cash it. All to save $100? Not worth it.
