How Self-Service Salvage Works

  • Visit during business hours (Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–4:45 PM).
  • Bring tools for part removal (cutters, wrenches, etc.).
  • Find the part in the salvage yard.
  • Remove the part and pay at the front office.
  • Some parts may cost extra for cutting or extraction.
The yard doesn’t offer part searches or pre-orders—customers must come in person.

Honestly, Binford was a decent spot to unload some scrap metal and grab a little cash. The place is actually pretty neat—no junk piled everywhere, and they take all kinds of metals. Payment’s by check, which works fine for us. There was only one person ahead when we got there, but I’ve heard it can take up to 20 minutes depending on the time. One thing that bugged me? Their website didn’t mention you gotta be 18 to drop off metal. We had to come back with an adult, which was annoying. Still, overall it was a solid experience—4 stars. ---

First time I went, I wasn’t sure what to think, but after a few visits, I realized these folks are straight-up honest and fair. I’d pick them over any other place. They make you feel welcome—one time, a worker even grabbed a battery off the side to jump my car. That was pretty cool. ---

Bedford’s been a lifesaver for me. Copper, aluminum, steel—clean or dirty, they take it all. Seriously, the money I make from scraps here helps me pay rent most months. Working two jobs just to eat, so that extra cash from stuff people toss out at my job? It’s made a real difference. ---

I’ve been coming to this scrapyard for years, even before it was Binford, and they’ve always treated me right. Never once brought in anything stolen in 15 years, but today? Got turned away over some copper a friend gave me—*not* stolen. Treated like some criminal when I’ve got a cleaner record than half the people working there. Nope, won’t be back. ---

I work in housing maintenance, fixing appliances, and I always end up with copper, bronze, brass—you name it. I bring it all here. The staff is great—they help unload, show you where to put everything, and get you out fast. I also like their non-ferrous metal setup. Respect to them for running a solid operation. Thanks for the help.
