Overview

Bob's Auto Salvage at 3171 Patton Rd, Griffin, GA 30224

Bob's Auto Salvage is a self-service auto salvage yard on Patton Rd in Griffin. They sell used auto parts for all vehicle makes and models, including engines, transmissions, and body components. Customers browse the yard themselves and remove parts on-site. The business also buys and sells scrap metal like copper, iron, steel, and aluminum for industrial or DIY use. There’s no online parts catalog—you’ll need to visit in person to find what you need.

Services & What to Expect

Bob's Auto Salvage runs on a self-service model. You enter the yard, find the part you need, and take it yourself. Basic tools are usually available, but bring your own if you need something specific. The yard doesn’t offer online part searches or ordering—you’ll have to see parts in person.

What Parts Are Available?

The yard stocks:

  • Engines and transmissions (domestic and foreign)
  • Body panels (doors, fenders, hoods, trunks)
  • Suspension and drivetrain parts (axles, control arms, shocks)
  • Electrical components (starters, alternators, wiring harnesses)
  • Interior parts (seats, dashboards, trim)
  • Scrap metal (copper, iron, steel, aluminum)
Parts come from salvaged vehicles, so stock changes often. The yard focuses on late-model domestic and import cars—not rare or classic parts.

Scrap Metal Services

Alongside auto parts, Bob's Auto Salvage handles scrap metal. Common metals include:

  • Copper (wiring, piping, sheet metal)
  • Steel (beams, sheets, scrap)
  • Iron (castings, structural pieces)
  • Aluminum (wheels, body panels, scrap)
Pricing is based on weight and current market rates. The yard doesn’t list prices publicly—you’ll get a quote during business hours.

How Self-Service Works

To get a part:

  1. Visit during business hours (no appointment needed).
  2. Find the part you need. Inventory is grouped by vehicle type and part category, but signs may be limited.
  3. Use the yard’s tools (or your own) to remove the part. Staff can point you to tools but won’t remove parts for you.
  4. Pay at the office. Prices are set per part—no haggling. Scrap metal is weighed and priced by the pound.
  5. Take the part with you. The yard doesn’t clean or repack parts.
Note: Check parts carefully before buying. No returns or exchanges after purchase.

What to Bring

Plan ahead with:

  • A clear idea of the part you need (year, make, model, and part number if possible).
  • Basic tools (wrenches, sockets, pry bars) if the yard’s tools aren’t enough.
  • Cash or a card (call to confirm payment methods).
  • A vehicle that can haul the part (trucks or trailers help for heavy items like engines).
  • Gloves and safety gear (the yard isn’t liable for injuries).

Selling a Junk Car

Bob's Auto Salvage doesn’t advertise junk car removal or cash-for-cars services. If you need to sell a vehicle, call the yard to ask if they accept cars for salvage. Other salvage yards in Griffin, McDonough, or Locust Grove likely do.

This place is a total scam—don’t waste your money here. My fiancé bought a motor for a customer back in May 2025, paid $1,850 in cash, and had to throw down another $70 on my card because of hidden fees we forgot about. They got it to him in two weeks, but the warranty was only a month. When the engine turned out to be junk, he called, and they basically laughed in his face, saying he never bought it from them and calling him a liar. Of course, our dog ate the receipt. The customer who needed the motor got the runaround too, told we never even bought it. Fast forward to July 29th, and I had to drag myself there to dig up proof they sold it. After 30 minutes of them messing with their "new system," the woman at the desk just grabbed a stack of papers and admitted she’d forgotten to enter the receipts that week. Unbelievable. And yeah, he did call back after we picked it up—they told him, *"We know it’s a good motor,"* then hung up. Two sides to every story? Maybe. But karma’s got a long memory. ---

Whoever answered the phone—some woman—was the rudest person I’ve ever dealt with. If that’s the owner, that’s a bad look. I called about a 2016 Hyundai Accent, and she acted like I was wasting her time. I run a small business, and I’d never treat a customer like that. Fix this. ---

These guys are solid. They didn’t have what I was looking for, but they tracked it down and had it brought in for me. No hassle, no attitude—just got it done.

The guy on the phone was a total jerk. I’m two hours away, and he’s telling me I have to drive there *twice*—once to pay, once to pick up the part. Won’t even take payment over the phone. When I asked if they could have it ready when I got there, he started yelling at me like I was an idiot. Terrible service, rude guy in the office. Skip this place if you can. ---

A client bought a transmission here, and they straight-up told him *not* to flush it. But here’s the thing—you *always* flush before putting in a used or new transmission. It’s basic common sense. So we did the flush, and now the thing won’t even go forward. Their excuse? *"Warranty’s void because you flushed it and didn’t use a stop leak."* Translation: The part was probably garbage to begin with, and now they’re blaming us for trying to make it work. ---
