Bought an engine here, and it was junk. Took them a whole month to give me my money back. I’m done with Chapin Junkyard—never going back. Skip this place if you know what’s good for you. ---

Hate leaving bad reviews, but when the owner won’t stand by their product and makes up excuses, it’s worth saying something. We’ve bought from them before, so I thought they’d be reliable. Ordered a transmission based on a VIN, and they sent the wrong one—a 6-speed auto instead of the CVT we asked for. Then it took extra days to get the right part, and we had to pick it up ourselves. After installing it, the car wouldn’t move. We checked and found water in the transmission. When we told Chapin, they got defensive, saying we didn’t return the old one in time (we did, when we picked up the new one). Then they tried to say the warranty didn’t count because we took too long to install it. Unbelievable. Both locations are the same—slow, unhelpful, and won’t take responsibility. Don’t expect a call back unless you hound them. ---

Called ahead, and Tyrone seemed nice enough. Said they had an upper control arm for my 2000 Durango and would call me back after checking it. He did, said it was in good shape and I could pick it up that day. I told him I’d be there between 11 and 12. Showed up, waited over an hour, and some guy brought out a *lower* control arm. I said, “No, I need the upper,” and he made me wait another 30 minutes. Finally, he came back with a cracked, beat-up upper arm—nothing like the “good condition” Tyrone promised. And the price? Still firm, no matter how long I waited or how bad the part was. Don’t bother—just a waste of time.

Terrible service from the second you walk in. They said my engine would be ready in a week—it took two. They put four different engines in my car before realizing which one fit, and the mechanics move like they’re underwater. They act like experts but clearly don’t know what they’re doing. When they mess up, they blame the customer instead of fixing their own mistakes. And don’t even ask for a discount—they’ll say it’s your fault for not knowing what engine your car needs. Oh, and good luck getting a call back about delays. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. ---

Prices here are insane, and I doubt they care about these reviews. Went in for a pair of 350Z heads from an engine that was totally wrecked—hole in the block, oil pan destroyed. But no, they swore it was “perfect,” so they wouldn’t sell me the parts. No mechanical knowledge, just shady pricing. Shocked anyone gave them five stars—must be their buddies. ---
