Cheyenne Recycling is a self-service auto salvage yard and scrap metal buyer at 809 W College Dr in Cheyenne. They sell used auto parts and buy scrap metal from individuals and local businesses. Call (307) 635-5986 or check wyomingsalvage.com for the latest schedule.

Services & What to Expect

Cheyenne Recycling handles two main things: selling used auto parts and buying scrap metal. The yard is self-service, so you’ll need to look for parts on your own. You’ll find engines, transmissions, body panels, and interior parts from different vehicle makes and models. There’s no online inventory, so you’ll have to visit to see what’s available.

If you’ve got an old car taking up space, Cheyenne Recycling buys scrap metal and junk cars. You can sell your vehicle for cash instead of dealing with towing or disposal. Pricing isn’t listed online, so call ahead to discuss your car’s value.

The yard has been family-run for over 20 years. The website is simple, with basic contact info but no detailed part lists or pricing. If you plan to remove parts yourself, bring your own tools—they don’t provide any for disassembly.

What to Bring

  • A vehicle to haul parts (if needed)
  • Basic tools (if removing parts on-site)
  • Cash or an accepted payment method

The guy who helped me was really polite and didn’t rush me at all. Made the whole thing way less stressful than I thought it’d be. ---

Tawny and the rest of the crew went above and beyond—answered all my questions, didn’t make me feel like I was wasting their time. And the price was fair, which is more than I can say for most places like this. Our mobile home was in decent shape when we picked it up, so that was a relief. ---

Called ahead, got a price for clean sheet aluminum (40 cents a pound, June 9, 2020). Showed up, unloaded 67 pounds, and when I went inside to settle up, they hit me with 20 cents a pound. After all that, I walked away with $12 for my trouble. If they’d stuck to the quote, it wouldn’t have been a total waste of time. Lesson learned—get the price in writing *before* they touch your stuff. The going rate was 60 cents a pound, so yeah, I got screwed. Wouldn’t recommend unless you enjoy getting lowballed. ---

Honestly, this place is a hidden gem. The staff? Super down-to-earth and always ready to lend a hand. My kids *love* coming here—they get to see how cars get crushed and all sorts of cool junkyard stuff. My 13-year-old and his buddy thought it was the best field trip ever. ---

These people are the real deal—fast, honest, and actually nice to deal with. If you’ve got non-ferrous metals to unload, this is the spot. No runaround, no nonsense. Five stars, no question.
