Overview

Chuck & Eddie's Used Auto Parts at 190 Middletown Ave, New Haven, CT

Chuck & Eddie's Used Auto Parts is a self-service auto salvage yard in New Haven, Connecticut. Located at 190 Middletown Ave, the yard lets customers browse and remove their own parts from vehicles. It operates as a u-pull-it salvage yard, where you pay an entry fee to take parts yourself. The business also sells pre-pulled parts and recycles scrap metal.

Services & What to Expect

Chuck & Eddie's is a self-service salvage yard. You enter the yard, find the parts you need, and remove them yourself. The business doesn’t offer professional part removal, so you’ll need your own tools and the ability to take parts off a vehicle.

How Self-Service Salvage Works

Here’s how it works at Chuck & Eddie's:

  1. Arrive during business hours and check in at the office.
  2. Pay the entry fee (usually a flat rate per vehicle or per day).
  3. Look through the yard for the vehicle with the parts you need.
  4. Remove the parts using your own tools.
  5. Check out with the office before leaving.
The yard doesn’t provide tools, so bring your own. Common tools needed include wrenches, sockets, pry bars, and jack stands.

Parts Available

The yard carries used parts from many makes and models, including:

  • Engines and transmissions
  • Body panels (doors, hoods, fenders, bumpers)
  • Wheels and tires
  • Electrical components (alternators, starters, wiring harnesses)
  • Suspension and steering parts (control arms, ball joints, tie rods)
  • Interior parts (seats, dashboards, trim)
  • Exhaust systems and mufflers
  • Air conditioning and heating parts
Inventory changes often as new vehicles are added. Call ahead or check the website for updates on specific parts.

Scrap Metal Recycling

Chuck & Eddie's also takes scrap metal from individuals and businesses. Drop off scrap during business hours, but pricing isn’t listed publicly—call for current rates.

What to Bring

If you’re removing parts, bring:

  • Your own tools (wrenches, sockets, pry bars, etc.)
  • A vehicle to haul parts (some are heavy or bulky)
  • Cash or a debit/credit card (the yard may not take all payment types)
  • Gloves and safety gear (salvage yards can be dirty and hazardous)
  • A list of the parts you need (to save time while browsing)
The yard doesn’t provide tools or equipment.

I wish I’d listened to the people who warned me about this junkyard. Tried to scrap my car here, and they offered way less than Denver Auto Place or Brookside—like, embarrassingly less. The whole process was a mess. Nobody seemed to know what they were doing when I ordered a part, and I’m still not sure how they stay open. Absolute joke of a business. ---

Twice now, I’ve been left hanging when they were supposed to pick up my car. Both times, I called, they said the driver was on the way, and then… nothing. No show, no call, no explanation. Done with them. Won’t waste my time or money here again. ---

Honestly, this was the smoothest car pickup I’ve ever had. They showed up exactly when they said they would, hooked everything up fast, handed me the check, and were out the door. No drama, no waiting—just easy. Really appreciated it. ---

Don’t bother with these guys. They’re unreliable, their communication is nonexistent, and they’ll leave you waiting for days just to pick up your own car. Terrible service, and I’d steer clear if I were you. ---

Bought a transmission here, and it was a total disaster. The mechanic who got it said it was missing parts and caked in dirt—like, actually throwing metal shavings. I brought it back within 30 days, even had a year warranty on it, but they still docked me $150 when they refunded me. Never even installed the thing, and they kept a chunk of my money anyway. Absolute rip-off.
