Overview

Clovis Recycling Center at 1059 Hoblitt Ave, Clovis, CA

Clovis Recycling Center is a self-service auto salvage yard and scrap recycling facility at 1059 Hoblitt Ave in Clovis. The business handles scrap metal and recycling but also keeps a stock of used auto parts for customers who need to salvage components from old vehicles. Unlike some junkyards, this place focuses on both recycling materials and selling parts to DIYers and car owners.

Two main groups use this center: people looking to get rid of scrap responsibly and those hunting for affordable used car parts. Staff help sort recyclables and can point you to parts in the yard, but you’ll need to pull them yourself. The yard recycles metals, plastics, and other materials while offering a cheaper alternative to buying new parts.

Services & What to Expect

Clovis Recycling Center offers scrap metal recycling and self-service auto salvage. It doesn’t buy cars for cash like some junkyards, but it does take vehicle donations for recycling. If you’re looking to sell an old car, truck, or other vehicle, check with local junkyards in the area—they may pay more and handle towing.

Scrap Metal & Recycling Services

The center takes a variety of materials, including:

  • Ferrous and non-ferrous metals (steel, aluminum, copper, brass)
  • Appliances (refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves)
  • Electronics (computers, TVs, small appliances)
  • Plastics (numbered plastics, clean and sorted)
  • Wood and other recyclables
You’re expected to sort materials correctly. Staff will check your sorting and may redirect items if needed. The yard doesn’t accept hazardous waste, tires, or certain electronics without approval.

Self-Service Auto Salvage

The salvage yard lets you browse dismantled vehicles for parts. Inventory changes daily as cars are processed, but you’ll often find:

  • Engines and transmissions
  • Body panels (doors, hoods, fenders)
  • Interior parts (seats, dashboards, trim)
  • Suspension and drivetrain components
  • Electrical parts (alternators, starters, wiring)
It’s a self-service operation—you locate, remove, and prep parts on your own. Bring your own tools. Staff can help identify parts but won’t remove them for you.

Customer Experience

Reviews show mixed experiences. Some customers praise the staff for being patient and helpful, especially with sorting. One noted that employees catch mistakes without making customers feel bad. Others mention slow service at the front desk, with one calling a cashier disengaged.

"The people here are always nice and actually care about helping you out. I come by about once a month with a car full of scrap, and I try to sort everything myself—but honestly, I mess up sometimes. They always catch what I missed and toss it in the right bin without making me feel dumb about it."

There’s no online inventory, so you’ll need to visit to check for parts. Scrap is priced by weight and metal type, while auto parts are sold as-is with no guarantees.

I took a bunch of bottles to Clovis Recycle Inc. last week, and it was way better than I expected. The guy who helped me—Chris—was super patient and actually took the time to explain how to sort everything right. He didn’t rush me or act like I was wasting his time, which is more than I can say for most places. The whole setup there is clean and easy to use, not some chaotic mess. And it’s obvious they actually care about doing things the right way, which matters to me. If you’re looking for a recycling spot that won’t make you want to skip it, this is the place. ---

A quick note to whoever runs this place: your front desk cashier needs to act like she’s actually working. I stood there for a solid minute while she scrolled on her phone, completely ignoring me. When she finally noticed, she just shoved my money into the slot like she was in a hurry to get back to whatever she was doing. Not even a “hi” or “thanks.” Just… nothing. Fix it.

Saw their old-school wood lathe from the early 1900s today—November 3rd, 2021—and wow, that thing is a beauty. Whoever ends up buying it is getting a steal at around $1,500. I’d trade a few paychecks for it in a heartbeat. ---
