Services & What to Expect

Copper State Metals is a self-service salvage yard. Customers find and remove their own parts from a mix of domestic and foreign vehicles. Parts are sold by the pound or by the piece, depending on the item. The yard also recycles scrap metal, including aluminum, copper, steel, brass, and other metals.

How Self-Service Works

Customers enter the yard during business hours and search for parts on their own. Basic tools are usually available, though some bring their own. Once a part is found and removed, payment is made at the front office. The yard doesn’t offer online part lookups, so customers must visit in person to check inventory.

What to Bring

  • A vehicle to haul parts (some are heavy or bulky)
  • Basic tools (if you don’t plan to use the yard’s)
  • Cash or a card (check ahead for card policies)
  • A list of parts you need (VIN or vehicle details help)

Scrap Metal Recycling

The yard takes in scrap metal for recycling, including aluminum, copper, steel, brass, and other non-ferrous metals. Prices depend on the metal type and weight. Customers can drop off scrap during business hours and get paid at the front office. The yard follows proper disposal and recycling rules.

I’ve dealt with plenty of junkyards, but this one takes the cake for being outright dishonest. They don’t even try to hide it—they just lowball you on every single thing. Sure, they’ll pay by the pound, which is more than some places do, but they refuse to give you what you’re owed for the actual metal you’re bringing in. And if you complain about a driver? Don’t bother giving the DOT number—that’s the company’s, not the guy behind the wheel. You want to call them out? Get the truck’s number or the license plate. That’s the only way they’ll know who you’re actually talking about. ---

The people here actually know what they’re doing. Even when they’re swamped with big rigs, someone still comes over to help you out—no waiting around forever. I’ve been in and out of worse places where you’re left standing there like an idiot, but not here. They get it done. ---

I wouldn’t trust this company to haul my trash, let alone anything else. Their drivers are absolute menaces. One of them cut me off, then slammed his brakes in the middle of the road to let someone across who wasn’t even close to being in danger. Then, when I tried to turn right, he pulled out so far he was blocking my whole lane. This wasn’t some close call—it was reckless, and it happened at 11:15 AM on May 21st near Bullmoose and Warner in Chandler. If this is how they train their drivers, they need to fire the whole lot and start over. ---

If two different people have complained about the same vehicle—like the one with the plate **250677**—you should probably scrap it. Today, I was driving when some woman stopped in front of me to put her shoe on, and the driver behind me started honking like I was supposed to just plow into her. Then he started yelling at *me* like I was the problem. A company shouldn’t have the same vehicle getting reported over and over. Fix it or get rid of it. ---

I’ve been bringing my scrap metal here for years, and it’s always been solid. The crew’s quick, they don’t waste your time, and they actually care about recycling instead of just dumping everything in a landfill. Lately, I replaced the brake discs on my work truck and dropped off the old ones instead of tossing them—probably around 60 pounds’ worth. The place is easy to find, in and out fast, and there’s always something going on. That said, keep your kids in the car. It’s a working yard, not a playground—forklifts are moving, and it’s not the kind of place for little ones to wander. Good Arizona business, no nonsense.
