Overview

D & L Recycling LLC at 708 Marks Rd, Valley City, OH

D & L Recycling LLC is a self-service auto salvage yard and scrap metal recycling center at 708 Marks Road in Valley City, Ohio. Open since 1995, the yard lets customers pull their own parts from salvaged vehicles and sells scrap metal for cash. It serves local drivers, mechanics, and anyone needing affordable used auto parts. The yard carries parts from both domestic and foreign vehicles, but inventory changes often as new cars come in. Customers handle part removal themselves—no professional disassembly is available.

Services & What to Expect

D & L Recycling offers two main services: a self-service salvage yard and scrap metal recycling. Customers can browse and remove their own parts from junked cars, while the scrap metal operation buys clean copper, aluminum, steel, and brass for cash. The yard doesn’t provide part removal help—you find, remove, and pay for what you take.

Auto Salvage Inventory

The salvage yard has used auto parts from Ford, Chevrolet, Chrysler, and foreign makes. Common items include engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension parts, and interior components. Inventory changes often based on recent acquisitions, so availability varies. Rare or newer model parts may be hard to find.

How Self-Service Works

The process is simple: visit during business hours, locate your part, and remove it using your own tools or those provided. Basic hand tools are usually available, but bring specialized equipment if needed. After removing the part, pay at the office. No professional disassembly is offered—customers do the work themselves.

What to Bring

  • Hand tools (if the yard doesn’t have what you need)
  • A truck, trailer, or vehicle to haul parts
  • Cash or an accepted payment method
  • Gloves and safety gear (recommended for handling metal)

Scrap Metal Recycling

The yard buys scrap metal like copper, aluminum, steel, and brass for cash. Prices depend on market rates, so check current prices before dropping off metals. Separate metals by type for faster processing. The yard won’t accept mixed or contaminated loads. This is a good option for getting rid of old appliances, workout equipment, or other metal items.

Customer Experience Notes

Reviews show mixed experiences. Some customers praise the quick, friendly service, like one who said their truck was unloaded before they could even step out. Others appreciate the cash payments. However, a few report issues with metal weighing or payment amounts, especially for high-value metals like copper. Always double-check weights and payments before leaving.

Brought in a whole load of wheels—12 factory aluminum ones, eight of them 19x8.5" and four 17s—and you’d think they’d at least weigh what they’re supposed to. Cleaned them up, removed the valve stems and weights, even checked the 19s at over 30 pounds each. But D&L’s scale said the whole lot was 259 pounds. 259. Like I was hauling featherweight magic wheels instead of solid aluminum. Half my haul was missing, and they didn’t even blink. Just told me to step back 50 feet while they “assessed” it. No receipt unless I begged, no explanation for the numbers, and zero transparency on how they decided my metal was suddenly half as heavy. If I’d known I was dealing with the “ultra rare super light” edition, I would’ve saved myself the trip. ---

Pulled up with a truck full of stuff, and before I could even get out, they had it unloaded and my empty barrels back in the bed. No waiting, no questions—just got it done. And they pay in cash, which is always a plus. Wasn’t even a long drive from home, so it’s easy to swing by. Already planning my next trip back.

Whenever I’ve got extra scrap lying around, D&L is where I take it. They’re fast, they don’t mess around, and they’re upfront about prices. The staff’s always friendly—no attitude, no runaround. Just drop off your stuff, get paid, and know it’s not ending up in a dump. Every time I leave, I feel like I did the right thing. If you’ve got scrap to unload, this is the place to go. ---

Normally, I’d say this place is decent—never had a problem before. Today, though? Brought in a furnace, a bike, 25 pounds of clean #1 copper, 89 pounds of steel, and 20 pounds of aluminum. Got $52 back. The copper alone was worth $61.25 at scrap rates. That’s not just a bad deal—it’s a joke. And the worst part? I’ve been sending people here for years, telling them it’s a solid spot. Now I’ve got to eat my words. Two stars because they *do* take scrap, which is more than some places. Three if they actually paid what it’s worth. Four if they could string a sentence together. But five? Not a chance, not without fixing the first two problems. ---

Moved into a new house, and the garage was packed with old workout gear—bars, weights, the whole setup. Knew I’d never use it, so I didn’t want it sitting around or ending up in a landfill. D&L was right across the street, so I backed my van up, and their crew handled the rest. No hassle, no fuss. Just showed up, they took care of it, and I drove away feeling like I’d actually done something useful with the junk. Simple as that. ---
