Overview

D & T Recycling (Scrap Metals & CRV) at 14113 Garfield Ave, Paramount, CA 90723

D & T Recycling is a scrap metal and California Redemption Value (CRV) center in Paramount. Opened in 2011 by David and Tanya, the business handles scrap metal recycling for homes and businesses. They take common metals like aluminum, copper, brass, steel, and stainless steel, plus auto parts such as catalytic converters and alternators. The yard also processes CRV items, including aluminum cans and glass bottles. Ferrous and non-ferrous metals are separated using magnetic equipment, and staff help customers get the best price for their materials.

Services & What to Expect

D & T Recycling handles two main services: scrap metal recycling and CRV refunds. For scrap metal, they accept aluminum, copper, brass, steel, and stainless steel, along with automotive parts like catalytic converters and alternators. Ferrous and non-ferrous metals are separated using magnetic equipment before processing. For CRV, the yard takes aluminum cans, glass bottles, and other eligible containers.

How It Works

  • Drop off scrap metal or CRV items during business hours—no appointment needed.
  • Staff weigh and sort materials to determine value. Ferrous metals are pulled out with magnets.
  • Payment is made on the spot for approved materials.

What to Bring

For scrap metal, bring clean, separated materials. For CRV, bring aluminum cans, glass bottles, and other eligible containers. Some customers mention removing bottle caps to avoid machine jams.

Customer Experience

Reviews from customers show mixed experiences. Some say the staff is friendly and helpful, while others point out issues with the CRV process, like small mesh bins or inconsistent weighing. A few customers have noted policy changes without clear communication, such as suddenly refusing copper after quoting a price over the phone.

The staff here are always friendly and willing to help. If you’re looking for a decent place to recycle, I’d say give them a shot.

I’ve been bringing my plastic bottles and aluminum cans here for years, but I won’t be coming back. Now they make you take the caps off every single bottle because their machine keeps jamming. And those little mesh bins? They’re so small you can barely fit anything in them. It’s a pain to deal with. ---

Moved here from Chicago about a year ago, and this was the closest recycling spot to my house. I do it as a hobby—keeps my mind off things, especially since I’m dealing with liver cirrhosis. Today, my friend and I rode our bikes over at 4:46 PM, ready to drop off our stuff. They wouldn’t even let us in. We had everything sorted, just needed to toss it in the bins—would’ve taken five minutes max. They said we had to be there before 4:40, but I never saw that rule posted anywhere online. Just seems like an unnecessary hassle. ---

Took in two big bags of plastic bottles yesterday, and even the worker said, "Wow, that’s a lot." The basket was packed, probably weighed 15 pounds easy, but they only paid me for 7. Feels like they’re lowballing people. Really frustrating. ---

I called ahead to check if they took copper and was given a price over the phone. When my husband and I showed up, the guy working there—a nice Asian man—told us they don’t accept it. No warning, no apology, just a flat "no." If someone tells me one thing on the phone, I expect that to be the truth when I show up. Wasted a whole trip for nothing. ---
