Look, I’ll be honest—Dumes Inc. has a solid crew running the place, especially the owner. They don’t sugarcoat anything, and the front desk folks are straight up about what they can and can’t do. If there’s a snag with drop-offs or scrap types, they’ll tell you right away. And they know their stuff when it comes to where to take different metals. Now, I’m not gonna lie—this isn’t a 5-star review just because I like ‘em. The one thing that bugs me is their shredder scrap prices. They’re almost always 10% lower than everyone else, and it’s rare they even come close to matching competitors. But here’s the weird part: even though their prices are lower, they’ve actually dropped *less* than the competition—like 28% less over time. So in a way, they’re not *as* bad as they seem. Still, over the past four and a half years, the people here have been a huge help. They’ve taught me the ropes—what to do, what not to do—so I can scrap smarter, make more with less hassle, and keep things running smooth for everyone. So yeah, despite the price thing, I’m grateful. ---

I’ve been to Dumes twice now, and both times, I left feeling ripped off. First time, I brought in bright bare #1 copper wire, and they paid me #2 copper prices. Second time? Same thing. It’s not just me—who knows how many other people they’ve pulled this on? I’ve been scrapping my whole life, and I’ve dealt with shady stuff before, but this is just lazy and wrong. And it’s not just the prices. The guys working the back now? Rude. Like, unnecessarily rude. It’s like they don’t even care. Back in the day, Dumes was decent, but now? I’m done. Won’t go back, won’t send anyone else there. If they don’t fix this, they’re gonna lose a lot more customers. ---

Most of the time, the staff will actually help you sort stuff if you’re not sure what you’ve got. That’s a plus. Prices are decent—nothing crazy, but not terrible either. Not the highest-paying place out there, but they’re fair. If you’re in the area and need to unload, it’s a solid enough spot.

Need to unload scrap metal? Dumes in Vincennes is a solid spot. Easy to get to, quick turnaround, and they take pretty much any metal you throw at ‘em. The pay isn’t the highest around, but it’s still fair enough to make it worth your time. The lot’s big—plenty of room to back a truck and trailer in without hassle. Their scales are solid, no weird discrepancies. If I’m ever in the area with a load, I’d come back. Simple as that. ---

Don’t bother. Drove 40 minutes during normal hours, showed up ready to drop off scrap, and they told me they weren’t taking new customers that day. Wasted half a day of work with a helper, and for what? That’s just bad business. If you can’t handle walk-ins during open hours, don’t advertise like you do. ---
