I was looking for a replacement motor for my 2007 Jaguar XK, and my repair shop, Woodland Hills Quality Motors, found one at Galaxy. I asked them to put down a $500 deposit with AVO while I figured out my next steps. It took a whole month just to get an appointment with Steve’s Jaguar in Canoga Park for a diagnosis. When they finally checked it out, they confirmed I needed a new motor—but the repair would cost over $8,500. That was way more than I could afford right then. So I went to AVO to see the engine he had. He showed me pictures and asked what Steve’s Jaguar quoted. He said he could do the job for $1,000 less, but his mechanic was in the hospital, so it’d be months before he could even start. I wasn’t sure what to do—maybe sell the car at a loss or save up for the repair. I asked Greg, my mechanic, to call AVO and get the $500 back since I wasn’t ready to move forward. AVO flat-out refused. He claimed he’d spent two hours pulling the engine out of a car, but he never told Greg that upfront. If he had, Greg would’ve told him to hold off until I decided. And get this—AVO never even mentioned that refunds weren’t an option. He made Greg wait a week, lying about needing to talk to the owner (which, by the way, is *him*—it’s right there on his website). I even asked him, business owner to business owner, to just refund part of it. He said no. He’d rather keep $500 and lose out on a $7,500 job. That’s just bad business. I won’t ever deal with Galaxy again. AVO’s dishonest, untrustworthy, and terrible at customer service. He was ready to undercut Steve’s Jaguar—who buys parts from him—just to be petty. Don’t waste your time with this guy. He might win the small fight, but he’s losing the whole war. ---

I was shopping for a rebuilt longblock for my XK8 when I found one at Galaxy Used Auto Parts. The engine got sent to my shop for installation, and after swapping out manifolds and everything else, it went into the car. That’s when we realized it was put together wrong—the flywheel was installed backward, throwing the timing off by 180 degrees. The longblock *should’ve* come with the timing set already done, but somehow, they messed it up. We didn’t catch it until we tried to start the engine—and that’s when it destroyed the heads and valves. Galaxy sent a replacement engine, but now they’re refusing to cover the $5,000 in labor costs from fixing *their* mistake. They know it was their fault—they even sent the new engine with no extra charge. But when I asked for compensation for the labor? Crickets. They sent out a broken part, and now they won’t take responsibility. Don’t trust these guys. They’ll sell you a defective engine and leave you holding the bill. ---

If you own a Jaguar, Galaxy is a lifesaver. The salvage yard is packed with parts, everything’s well-organized, and they even have a body shop on-site. Avo, the owner, went out of his way to help me find a hard-to-get part and gave me a fair price. I’ll definitely be back. ---
