Overview

Hicks Auto Parts & Sales at 5112 Lower Wetumpka Rd, Montgomery, AL 36110

Hicks Auto Parts & Sales is a self-service auto salvage yard and used parts store at 5112 Lower Wetumpka Rd in Montgomery. Customers can pull their own parts from salvaged vehicles or buy pre-cleaned used parts from the store. The yard also takes scrap metal for recycling, with pickup available for loads up to 5 tons. Jeff and Anna Hicks opened the business in 2010, and it’s still family-run today.

Services & What to Expect

Hicks Auto Parts & Sales offers two main ways to get parts: self-service salvage and a retail used parts store. The yard is organized by vehicle make and model, and tools are available for rent if you don’t have your own.

Self-Service Salvage (U-Pull-It)

The salvage yard has hundreds of cars, trucks, and SUVs to browse. You find the part you need, remove it, and pay at the counter. Staff can help identify parts or rent you tools. Common parts include engines, transmissions, doors, fenders, bumpers, and interior pieces. Bring a valid driver’s license or vehicle registration to enter.

Used Auto Parts Store

Inside, Hicks carries cleaned and tested used parts, including engines, electrical components, suspension, and brakes. The parts are sorted by make, model, and year, and staff can help match the right part to your vehicle.

Scrap Metal Recycling

The yard buys scrap metal like aluminum, steel, and copper. Residential customers can drop off small loads, while businesses can arrange pickups for up to 5 tons. Prices depend on current metal market rates. Call ahead to confirm they accept your material.

What to Bring

  • Driver’s license or vehicle registration (required for entry)
  • Tools (or cash for tool rentals)
  • Vehicle details (make, model, year) if buying parts
  • Cash, debit, or credit card (for payment)
  • Gloves and safety gear (recommended)

Hicks Auto is solid—good parts, good people. They’re right across from LKQ, the big junkyard, but people keep mixing them up in reviews. Hicks is the auto repair shop, not the salvage yard. Easy to tell apart if you’re paying attention. ---

Been here twice now—first time for a wiring harness on my ’88 Dodge Ram, second time for a neutral safety switch. The guys working there are actually nice and don’t act like they’re too busy to help. The lot’s not a total mess like some other places I’ve been to, and they’ve got a decent selection of parts. If you’re hunting for something specific, this is the spot. I’ll be back, no question. Thanks to the front desk crew too—they made it easy for a first-timer like me. ---

Called Hick’s—now LKQ, I guess—because they took over the old Keystone place, and all I got was an automated message looping for 15 minutes straight. No human, no option to leave a message, nothing. Either they’ve decided they don’t need customers anymore or they’re just too lazy to answer the phone. If this is how they run their business, they won’t last long. News flash: customers have options. If you don’t pick up, we’ll call someone who will. And if I ran that place? The phone team would be gone after the first 15 minutes of this nonsense. ---

Worst experience ever. Called for a friend looking for parts, and the guy on the phone just hung up. No help, no idea what he was doing. Don’t bother with this place.

I was with my man Bubba Johnson—he’s the best, I swear, love him more than anything—and that’s why I got his name tattooed. Love you, Bubba Johnson. Christina Bloss Johnson. ---
