Overview

Jerry's Auto Salvage - Hobbs, New Mexico

Jerry's Auto Salvage is a self-service auto salvage yard in Hobbs, New Mexico. Customers can browse used auto parts, scrap metal, and other automotive components on their own. The yard follows a "u-pull-it" model, where visitors find and remove parts themselves without staff help. The business accepts junk cars for scrap but doesn’t advertise cash-for-cars services online. Hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with shorter Saturday hours (9:00 AM to 12:00 PM) and a Sunday closure. The yard is at 2026 North Cottrell Lane, serving Hobbs and nearby areas.

Services & What to Expect

Jerry's Auto Salvage is a self-service operation. Customers search for and remove parts themselves from a mix of wrecked vehicles, salvaged parts, and scrap metal. Inventory changes often based on recent acquisitions. Common items include engines, transmissions, body panels, bumpers, and interior components. Tools and equipment are available for rent or purchase to help with part removal.

Staff don’t assist with part searches, so customers must locate items on their own. Bring your own vehicle to haul parts away. Pricing isn’t listed online—inspect parts in person before buying. Payment is handled at the on-site office, where staff verifies purchases.

If you have an old car, truck, or SUV to scrap, Jerry’s may take it. While they don’t advertise cash for junk cars, many local salvage yards do. For details, call (575) 397-1541 or visit during business hours.

Honestly, David’s the kind of guy who’ll help you out even when he’s swamped—you can hear the phone ringing off the hook, but he’ll still take the time to walk you through what they’ve got. He’s got a sharp memory for inventory and always seems to know exactly which car or truck might have the part you’re hunting for. For a small-town salvage yard, they’re way better than most, and their prices? Way lower than places like Seminole or Roswell. If I need something, I’ll keep coming back. ---

Stopped by to grab a crank V-belt pulley for a late-model 302 and ended up running into a couple of old friends while I was there. Made the whole trip worth it—got the part, caught up with people I hadn’t seen in years. Easy, no-hassle visit. ---

Needed a tailgate for my Ford 350 and found one here at a fair price, in solid shape. They even sent me a picture ahead of time since I was driving in from Carlsbad, which was a nice touch. Then they installed it for free—didn’t even ask for extra. Got more than I paid for, and the guys, Dave and John, were friendly and helpful. No idea where the bad reviews are coming from, but my experience was great. ---

Tried walking in for the first time just to look around, and the guy flat-out told me I couldn’t. Rude as hell, too—heard him snapping at other customers while I was standing there. Wouldn’t send anyone here, not even my worst enemy. Terrible service, no reason to go back.

Went in looking for a used stereo for my ’99 Expedition, and the guy behind the counter had the nerve to tell me he was selling one for $70—same part dealers want $700 for. Then he had the audacity to say it *might* not even work. If it’s that much of a gamble, $70 is a joke—$30 to $40 would’ve been pushing it. I walked out, thanked him for wasting my time, and left. Absolute rip-off. Zero stars if I could. ---
