The place is always packed with OTR drivers coming and going, and the loading process isn’t terrible—it moves at a reasonable pace. They snap photos of everything: your license, tags, DOT card, VIN, CDL, even the rate confirmation (which, honestly, feels like overkill since that’s supposed to stay between the carrier and broker). But here’s the kicker: the guy they assign to wave you out of the yard is an absolute disaster. Ten years on the road, and I’ve never seen someone so clueless about directing a truck. His hand signals make no sense, and it’s only a matter of time before he causes a wreck. Someone needs to pull him off that job before it happens. ---

We had a big scrap cleanup job in Alexandria, and Michael didn’t just meet our needs—he made sure we got everything done on schedule. No hassle, no delays, just solid help when we needed it. If you’re looking for someone who actually follows through, he’s the guy. ---

Alejandro’s the best—always keeps me updated on metal prices, even texts me back after hours. The two guys up front when you drop off a car? Super friendly and know their stuff. Honestly, I’d go just for those three alone, but the prices here are great too. *(Update: Still true. Karen, Cenia, Benty, Ana, and Sandra in the trailer are all super nice. The front desk crew’s solid too. Whole place has a good crew—and Smith’s prices are the best around.)*

Don’t bother bringing a truck here if you’re hauling scrap. The yard’s too tight for safe turns, and you’ve got to weigh in *before* loading, then weigh out again after. Oh, and there’s this blind curve right after the scale that you can’t avoid—it’s a nightmare. The last time I took a load, the scrap inside was so jagged it scratched up my trailer. Not worth the hassle. ---
