Overview

Keystone Automotive - Fort Wayne

Keystone Automotive in Fort Wayne is a self-service auto salvage yard. Customers can browse used car parts, remove them themselves, or get help from staff. The yard is part of LKQ Corporation and stocks parts from domestic and foreign vehicles. You can search for parts using the on-site computer, then pay by the pound for what you take. The yard doesn’t sell whole cars—only parts from salvaged vehicles. If you have an old car to get rid of, they may offer cash for it. Check their cash for junk cars page for details.

Services & What to Expect

Keystone Automotive is a self-service yard, meaning you remove parts on your own. The yard provides basic tools like wrenches and pry bars. A computer on-site helps you find parts by make, model, and year. You pay per pound for the parts you take.

What You Can Find

The yard carries parts from many vehicles, including:

  • Engines and transmissions
  • Body panels (doors, hoods, fenders)
  • Interior parts (seats, dashboards, trim)
  • Suspension and drivetrain parts (axles, control arms, shocks)
  • Electrical components (wiring harnesses, sensors, lights)
  • Braking system parts (calipers, rotors, master cylinders)
The selection changes daily as vehicles come and go. Some parts may need cutting or welding, which staff can do for an extra fee.

How Self-Service Works

Start by browsing the lot or using the computer to find parts. Once you pick a vehicle, staff will:

  1. Check if the car is available for part-out
  2. Give you tools and safety gear (gloves, goggles)
  3. Weigh the parts you remove and calculate the cost
  4. Process payment at the front counter
The yard doesn’t clean or machine parts. You’re responsible for removing parts in working condition and hauling them away.

Plan ahead with:

  • A truck or trailer to haul parts
  • Your own tools if you prefer them
  • Cash, debit, or credit card for payment
  • ID if buying parts
  • Work gloves and safety glasses (recommended)
The yard doesn’t sell tools, so bringing your own saves time.

Key Notes

  • Sell whole vehicles or running cars
  • Offer warranties on parts
  • Clean or refurbish parts
  • Accept returns or exchanges after purchase
If you’re looking to sell a junk car, they may offer cash for junk cars . Call ahead to confirm.

Ordered a wheel for my Buick LeSabre at 1:30 PM, and it showed up by noon the next day—no joke. That thing made the trip from Fort Wayne to Willoughby in under 24 hours via UPS, and it wasn’t even scuffed. Packaging was solid, no damage. Fast, easy, and exactly what I needed. ---

Giving LKQ a 1-star for this experience. I’ve had decent luck with them before, but this time I tried ordering a part for a customer’s car from a different state. Got passed around like a hot potato—corporate, local branches, on hold forever, hung up on. After nearly two hours of that nonsense, I just gave up. If you need to call them, save yourself the headache. ---

Okay, first off, the receiving door is *nowhere* near obvious. If you’re here for LKQ, Keystone, or PGW Auto Glass, look for the blue door on the east side—it’s to the left of that concrete ramp with the black rails. Walk in there, and the guys inside will sort you out. Oh, and they unloaded my stuff in under an hour. Not bad. ---

Zach and his team? Absolute lifesavers. Got me the parts I needed for the body shop fast, and they were in good shape. No hassle, no waiting around. Exactly what you want when you’re on a deadline. ---

Avoid this place. I’ve been here since 3 PM, and it’s now 7 PM. Still not unloaded. Four hours wasted. What a joke.
