Martin & Son Auto Parts & Salvage - Westerly, Rhode Island
Martin & Son Auto Parts & Salvage is a self-service auto salvage yard in Westerly, RI. Customers browse and remove parts from junked vehicles themselves, paying by the pound for what they take. The yard serves DIY mechanics and professional restorers looking for affordable used parts. Hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM—no weekends. Bring your own tools and be ready to do the work.
Services & What to Expect
This is a self-service junkyard where you find and remove your own parts. You pay based on weight—no middleman markup keeps prices low. It’s best for those with basic mechanical skills who don’t mind getting their hands dirty.
How Self-Service Works
Find the part: Walk through the yard to locate the vehicle with what you need. Parts are grouped by vehicle type but may not be labeled.
Remove the part: Bring your own tools—wrenches, sockets, and pry bars are a must. Some parts take extra work to get out.
Weigh and pay: After removing the part, it’s weighed on-site. Pricing is $0.75 per pound (check for updates before visiting).
No fees or memberships: There’s no entry cost, no pressure to buy, and no extra charges. You only pay for what you take.
What Parts Are Available?
The yard carries parts from domestic and foreign vehicles, including:
Engines and transmissions (common models, not rare or high-performance)
Body panels (doors, fenders, hoods, bumpers)
Interior pieces (seats, dashboards, trim)
Suspension and drivetrain parts (control arms, axles, differentials)
Miscellaneous parts (headlights, taillights, mirrors, grilles)
Inventory changes often, so call ahead if you’re looking for something specific. Common makes and models from the 1990s onward are well-stocked, but rare or classic car parts are unlikely.

Bob saved me when I messed up an order for my truck’s rear end. First one was the wrong year because I didn’t give him the right info, but instead of getting mad, he took it back and got me the right part—no fuss, just a smile and a good attitude. That’s the kind of service you don’t find everywhere.

Zero stars, no question. My husband called to buy a part online, and Martin told us to pay upfront before he’d even take it off the car. Fine, we did that. Then he said it’d take a few days to get it ready and he’d call us back. Weeks went by with nothing. When we finally followed up, they said the part was bad—but why didn’t anyone bother to tell us that in the first two weeks? Now we’re still waiting on a refund, and honestly, this place is a total disaster. Stay far away. And hey, Martin—just give us our money back for a part we never even got.

If you’re looking for auto parts, this is the only place I trust. Martin and his family—Ma Martin and Bobby—have saved my hide more times than I can count. As a vet who’s been through hell and back, I don’t have the cash to keep my old clunker running, but they’ve always made sure I could. They’re good people, the kind who actually care about folks who’ve served. If you’re military, this is where you go. Tell ‘em the Colonel sent you. And if you’ve got time, stick around—they’ll talk your ear off about this country, and you’ll leave feeling like you’ve met real Americans.

Worst experience ever. Ordered a wheel on Monday, drove 20 minutes to drop off a deposit just so he’d order it. Supposed to be there by Tuesday at 4 p.m.—wasn’t. He said he’d pick it up Wednesday, then flaked. I told him I needed it between 10:30 and 11 Thursday, and he said fine. Showed up at 11:30—no wheel, but someone was “on the way.” Third time he apologized, third time I left empty-handed. Five people working there, and not one of them could get it right. Finally got my deposit back, but at that point, I just wanted out. Don’t waste your time.

I’ve been coming to Martin and Son for years now, and I’ve never had a bad experience. Every time I need a part, they’ve got it, and I get it fast. Prices are fair, and nothing’s ever been wrong with what I’ve bought. On top of that, they’re just good guys—no nonsense, no hassle.
