We showed up at the junkyard around lunchtime, not realizing they shut down for an hour. After waiting, the guy who finally helped us didn’t seem in any rush—just kind of went through the motions. Then came the confusing part: where exactly were we supposed to go to unload and get weighed? There were no signs, no clear directions, and I ended up walking alongside the truck while my aunt drove because we had no idea where to go. It would’ve been nice if someone had just pointed us in the right direction or had some basic signage. Yeah, they pay a little more than other places, but the hassle isn’t worth it. We’re not coming back. ---

I’ve been to this scrap yard a bunch of times, but yesterday was the first time I had to use their scale—and let me tell you, it’s a mess. The numbers kept jumping around like crazy, bouncing between 4940 and 4960 pounds while I sat there. I even took a picture of the lower number before driving off, but then someone from the scale house yelled for me to get back on. Same thing happened again, just slower. Finally, a voice over the speaker said, “I got you,” and I was done. Later, when I went to buy a piece of grate, they told me I had to take the whole thing, not just half. The scale read 5120 when I weighed it again, and I got charged for 80 pounds. At home, I weighed it myself—70.4 pounds. No receipt, no proof, just cash. The thing is, for big loads, 20 pounds isn’t a huge deal, but for smaller stuff? It adds up fast. Other people have said they get ripped off selling here, and now I believe it. The staff is fine, but the scale is unreliable. If you’re just grabbing a small piece, it’s probably not worth the headache—even if the prices on new angle iron are actually decent. ---

Called ahead to ask about copper wiring with rubber coating and was told $3.10 a pound. The woman on the phone seemed to know exactly what I was talking about—no confusion at all. But when I showed up with the wiring, she suddenly played dumb at the pay window. If she’d just been honest on the phone, I would’ve stripped it myself. Instead, she cheated me out of about a hundred bucks. From what I’ve read, this seems to be a common trick here. Not worth the hassle.

This place is a total scam. The guy at the scale took one look at my 500 pounds of copper and called it “wire harness” just to mark it down. Yeah, I get it—if the wiring isn’t stripped, they’ll dock you. But they’ll lowball it so bad it’s not even worth the effort, and you won’t realize it until you’ve already dumped everything in the bin. The lady at the desk was nice, but not nice enough to make up for getting robbed. Do yourself a favor—take your scrap somewhere else. ---
