Moyer Auto Salvage at 14145 Decoursey Pike, Morning View, KY 41063

Moyer Auto Salvage is a family-run auto salvage yard at 14145 Decoursey Pike in Morning View, Kentucky. The yard offers used auto parts, scrap metal recycling, and a self-service u-pull-it area where customers can find their own parts. You’ll find parts from both domestic and foreign vehicles, including engines, transmissions, axles, radiators, and body panels. The yard is open to the public during business hours—no appointment needed.

Services & What to Expect

Moyer Auto Salvage is a self-service yard, meaning you can enter during open hours to search for and remove parts on your own. There’s no online inventory, so you’ll need to visit in person to see what’s available.

What Parts Are Available?

The yard carries parts from a mix of vehicles, including:

  • Engines and transmissions
  • Axles and drivetrain parts
  • Radiators, fuel tanks, and cooling system components
  • Body panels (doors, hoods, fenders, bumpers)
  • Seats, interior trim, and glass
  • Suspension and steering parts
Parts come from brands like Ford, GMC, Honda, and Toyota, with a mix of older and newer models. Inventory changes often, so what’s available depends on recent salvage jobs.

How Self-Service Works

The yard is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. You can walk the lot during these hours to look for parts. Basic tools are usually available for rent or purchase if you need to take something apart. Staff can point you in the right direction, but you’re responsible for finding and removing the parts yourself.

What to Bring

Plan ahead and bring:

  • A vehicle to haul parts (many are heavy and bulky)
  • Basic hand tools if you’ll be dismantling parts on-site
  • Cash or a payment method—the yard may not take cards, so call to check
  • A part number or vehicle ID if you’re looking for something specific
  • Gloves and sturdy clothes (the yard can be dusty with sharp metal)

Other Services

Beyond self-service parts, Moyer Auto Salvage also handles:

  • Scrap metal recycling: The yard buys scrap metal, including car parts, appliances, and construction debris. Prices depend on current metal market rates.
  • Junk car removal: While the yard doesn’t advertise cash for junk cars, they often take vehicles for parts or scrap. Call (859) 356-3400 to ask about dropping off a car before you head over.

They told me over the phone they had the radiator I needed, so I drove all the way down there. Then I sat in my truck for what felt like forever while they "checked." Finally, the guy came back and said, "Oops, we don’t actually have it." Wasted my whole afternoon for nothing. ---

Ordered a power steering pump for my 2008 Explorer, and they swore they had one ready. Told me to send my wife to grab it by noon—she drove an hour out there, only to show up and have no one know what she was talking about. Turns out the guy who was supposed to pull the part couldn’t even find it, let alone remove it. When I called to ask why they didn’t just call *me* first, the guy on the phone acted like I was inconveniencing him. Said he was busy with other cars and that power steering pumps are "hard to get." Yeah, sure. The whole thing was a mess—no one seemed to know what they were doing, and the attitude was terrible. If that guy I talked to isn’t the owner, he should be gone. ---

I was in a real bind trying to find a part for an engine that even the dealership couldn’t get. Moyer had a whole parts engine with exactly what I needed—saved me a ton of hassle. They got back to me fast, too. Really appreciated the help. ---

The people here are always nice and willing to help. They’ve got a huge selection of used parts, and the prices are fair. Just one thing—don’t show up between 12 and 1 unless you call first. That’s when most of the staff takes lunch, and the place is basically empty. If you give them a heads-up, though, they’ll have your part pulled and ready for you.
