Had to talk to the management about something, and they were actually helpful instead of making it a hassle. Friendly too—no attitude, just straight answers. ---

Honestly, if you’re hauling scrap for recycling, the directions here could use some work. When you pull in, take a left at the gate, follow the curve around the building, and you’ll spot the scale up ahead. Park on it, switch to CB channel 23, and they’ll ask for your pu# and truck/trailer numbers plus your drop-off location. After that, pull off the scale, loop around to the yard to turn your rig, then head back past the scale to door W3. Back in your tandems, open the doors, and reverse into the dock—they’ve got lines and markers to help you line up. Once loaded, pull forward enough for them to shut and seal your trailer. Then just back out left, adjust your tandems, turn around, and hit the scale again for your loaded weight. Park where you did before, and grab your paperwork inside. The whole process is smooth, but the signs are confusing. I ended up at the wrong shipping office first, waiting while someone loaded a flatbed, only to be told I was in the wrong spot. Still, every person I talked to was great—wouldn’t hesitate to come back. ---

Brought in some insulated copper and brass to Winski, and they messed up the weight on the copper—paid me way less than I should’ve gotten. But when I talked to the manager, they fixed it right away. Mr. Mitchell made sure I got what I was owed, and that’s the kind of place I’ll keep coming back to. No games, just honest business. ---

If you’ve got scrap metal to get rid of, this place is easy to get to and makes it simple. The pay isn’t huge unless you’ve got a ton of stuff, but even if it’s not worth the trip for the money, it’s better than tossing it in the trash. ---

They pay ten cents a pound, which is pretty low, but I had a car engine to dump and didn’t want to drive far. The whole thing was quick—I signed in, they weighed my car with the engine, I tossed it in the scrap field, weighed the car again, and walked away with $4. Not life-changing money, but better than nothing for the hassle.
