Never been to this place before, but I was looking for a tire and rim combo and they made it super easy. The guy who helped me knew exactly what I needed and didn’t try to upsell me a bunch of junk. The price for the part *and* the labor to pull it was way cheaper than I expected. Honestly, I was surprised how fair it was—good deal all around. ---

Okay, so I went in for a power steering reservoir and a tiny hose, right? The guy behind the counter—some big dude with a bad attitude—tried to charge me $25 for the reservoir when I could’ve bought the exact same thing at AutoPart for $20. Then he hit me with $5 for a hose that costs $3 anywhere else. Meanwhile, the other employees were actually nice and seemed to know the old prices. This guy was just out here making stuff up to squeeze extra cash. ---

Called Paul’s on Tuesday, September 16th, about a manual transmission for my Honda Civic. The guy on the phone said it was $300, plus $125 if they had to pull it. I told him I couldn’t come until Friday, and he seemed pretty sure it’d still be there since manuals aren’t as common. Fast forward to Friday—I show up with a mechanic friend, ask about the transmission, and the guy at the counter acts like they don’t even have one. I remind him about the call, he checks the computer, still says no. My friend asks if we can just go look in the yard ourselves, so we do. Sure enough, there’s the car I saw online, and it’s got the manual tranny. We go back inside, and now the price jumps to $800? What the hell? Then he disappears, comes back, and says it’s actually $175. Fine, whatever. I ask about the removal fee—$125, but if the part’s cracked, I don’t get it back. Fair enough, I get it. He says it’ll be a while, so I leave. Around 4 PM, I get a call: the guy “checked” the car, claims there are holes in the transmission, and now they’re keeping my $125 even though he didn’t lift a finger. My mechanic never saw any holes, but sure, whatever. They offered to look at other locations, but they didn’t even know this one existed in the first place. Their inventory system is a joke, and it’s ridiculous they won’t refund me when they didn’t do the work. ---

These people are out of their minds. Went in today to buy a busted engine to fix up, and they had the nerve to ask $1,850 for it. $1,850?! That’s just greedy—trying to take advantage of people who know what they’re doing. Someone needs to get the owner or a supervisor down there, because way too many of these guys are just looking to pad their own pockets. It’s not right.

Jordan at the Merrillville location—actually, all of them there—were really on top of things. Professional, helpful, no nonsense. That’s where I ended up getting my SUV from, and I’ve got no complaints. Keep doing what you’re doing, guys. ---
