I went to this scrapyard expecting a fair deal, but it turned out to be a total scam. They didn’t even ask for ID, just handed me cash and refused to give me a receipt—like they didn’t want any record of the transaction. I’m pretty sure they lowballed me by at least 40%, maybe more, but without proof, who’s gonna believe me? Muscatine Metals is the place to go if you’ve got non-ferrous metals—way better rates. For ferrous stuff, Alter Metals in Cedar Rapids is solid, but Muscatine’s still the top pick overall. ---

They didn’t tell me the weight upfront, and when I got paid, it felt like they were just guessing. No transparency, no fair offer—just a quick handshake and a number that didn’t add up. ---

Skip this place entirely. I took the same amount of scrap to Muscatine Metals and walked out with more money—plus, they let me watch them weigh it. Here? They won’t even do that. They act like they’re doing you a favor by taking your scrap, then have the nerve to say don’t come back unless you’ve got a truckload. It’s lazy, it’s dishonest, and it’s not worth your time.

Don’t waste your time here. Muscatine Metals will give you a fair weight and a decent price—this place just throws out a random number and hopes you don’t notice. If you want to actually get paid what your scrap is worth, go somewhere else. ---

I’ve been dealing with Peterson Iron for a few months now, and honestly, Ray and Candie have made the whole process smooth. Candie’s the one I talk to most, and she’s always been quick to respond, whether it’s a call, email, or in person. She’s got a knack for explaining things clearly, and she’s so good at her job that I ended up cutting them a better deal than we originally talked about. I’ve worked in offices for years, and Candie might be the best I’ve ever seen—professional, helpful, and just really good at what she does. If you’re looking for a scrap yard that treats you right, Peterson Iron’s the place. I’ll be bringing all my future scrap—and my clients’—their way. ---
