Overview

Pick-n-Pull at 1065 Commercial St, San Jose, CA 95112

Pick-n-Pull is a self-service auto salvage yard in San Jose where customers can find used auto parts for cars, trucks, and vans. The yard follows a "you-pull-it" model—visitors locate and remove parts themselves. It’s part of the Schnitzer Steel network, which has been in auto recycling for decades. The Commercial Street location has been open since 1987, offering a straightforward way to get OEM and aftermarket parts at a lower cost.

Services & What to Expect

Pick-n-Pull is a self-service salvage yard, meaning you handle finding and removing parts on your own. The yard carries parts from a variety of vehicles, with a focus on OEM components. Tools are available for rent, and staff can point you in the right direction if you need help identifying a part.

Common Parts Available

  • Engines and transmissions
  • Body panels and bumpers
  • Interior parts (seats, dashboards, door panels)
  • Suspension and drivetrain components
  • Electrical parts (wiring harnesses, sensors, lights)
  • Braking system parts (calipers, rotors, brake pads)

How Self-Service Works

You enter the yard, find the part you need, and remove it yourself. Basic tools like wrenches, sockets, and pry bars are available for rent. The yard doesn’t disassemble parts for you, so they must be removable by hand or with standard tools. Payment is based on the part’s weight at the exit gate.

Hours & Safety Tips

The yard is open seven days a week, with longer hours on weekends. On Saturdays, it closes at 2 PM, so plan to arrive early. Tools and safety gear are on-site, but bring gloves and closed-toe shoes.

Pick-n-Pull doesn’t actively buy junk cars, but they may take vehicles for parts. For a quick, guaranteed offer, check our cash for junk cars page for local buyers in San Jose.

Their prices keep climbing, and for just $10–$50 more, I could’ve bought a brand-new part for my car. Ninety bucks for a used radiator? New ones are $120. Not worth it anymore. ---

We scheduled a pickup for our Jeep, but when the day came, no one showed up. After calling, we found out they’d written down the wrong number—fine, mistakes happen. But we were moving out of the country the next day, so we begged them to come the following morning. They promised they would. Then, nothing. Called again, and they claimed we weren’t even on the schedule. With hours left before our flight, my husband had to drive ten miles just to drop off the car himself. Absolute nightmare. ---

Total scam with the pricing. They had a headlight assembly listed at one price up front, but when I went to pay, they hit me with an extra five bucks per assembly for some “bucket” part. The bucket wasn’t even a separate piece—it was just part of the assembly. Then they tacked on a 10% environmental fee on top of everything. Unbelievable. ---

Quick and easy trip for parts. Check the online inventory first—saves time. Vanessa was super helpful, walked me through everything, and even told me about their loyalty program, which I signed up for. Lots of Jeep Grand Cherokees to pick from too. Good deal. ---

This place is actually really well-run. Cleaner than most junkyards I’ve been to, and the website matches what’s actually on the lot. The staff were friendly and easy to work with. I’d go back.
