Overview

Pollards Auto Salvage - Greenwood, SC

Pollards Auto Salvage is a Greenwood, South Carolina, junkyard where customers can find used auto parts, scrap metal, and vehicles for repair or resale. The yard runs on a self-service model—visitors search for parts on their own, remove them with their own tools, and pay by weight. They also take in junk cars for scrap but don’t offer a public cash-for-cars program. The yard is at 314 U.S. 221 and focuses on providing affordable, direct access to parts.

Services & What to Expect

Pollards Auto Salvage is a self-service junkyard. Customers handle the search and removal of parts themselves. The yard has a mix of vehicles—cars, trucks, and SUVs—with parts ranging from engines and transmissions to body panels and interior components. Bring your own tools, as none are provided.

How Self-Service Works

  • Browse the yard: Walk through the inventory to find the parts you need. Vehicles are usually grouped by make and model, but some searching may be required.
  • Remove parts: Once you find what you need, take it yourself. Common tools like wrenches, sockets, and pry bars make the job easier.
  • Pay at the office: After retrieving parts, bring them to the office for weighing and payment. Pricing is mostly by weight, though some high-value parts have set prices.
  • Bring your own tools: The yard doesn’t provide tools, so visitors must bring their own. Some people rent tools from local hardware stores for the visit.

What Parts Are Available?

Inventory changes, but Pollards Auto Salvage typically carries:

  • Engines and transmissions (domestic and foreign)
  • Body panels (doors, fenders, hoods, bumpers)
  • Interior parts (seats, dashboards, trim)
  • Suspension and drivetrain components (control arms, axles, differentials)
  • Electrical parts (starters, alternators, wiring harnesses)
  • Scrap metal (for recycling or repurposing)
The yard doesn’t specialize in rare or classic car parts but may have components from older domestic vehicles.

Don’t even think about buying parts here. The stuff they sell is junk, they won’t take it back, and good luck getting a refund. Dropped $1,500 on a transmission that turned out to be garbage. When I asked for my money back or at least a warranty, they called the cops to kick me out. Absolute scam. ---

I’ve dealt with some bad businesses before, but this one takes the cake. Called ahead to check on a part, they said it was there and ready. Drove an hour and a half just to be told—after seeing the part still sitting on a car out front—that it wasn’t for sale. Turns out they just didn’t feel like pulling it off. Even weirder? The same part is still listed online. How do they stay open? No clue. ---

This place is a nightmare. If I could give zero stars, I would. The staff acted like they didn’t care, and no one bothered to answer my calls or messages. How do they expect to stay in business when they treat customers like this? Especially when people are in a hurry for parts. Skip this place entirely. ---

Three stars is way too generous for this place. I wouldn’t go back if you paid me. The whole problem is Gary—he’s the one running the show, and he couldn’t care less about customers. Management needs to fire him or at least make him treat people with basic respect. Good luck finding a worse experience. ---

Honestly, no complaints at all. The staff was actually nice and knew what they were talking about. Prices were fair, and I’ll be back next time I need something—even though it’s out of my way. It’s hard to find a salvage yard you can trust, but this one’s solid.
