Overview

Pull N Save South at 504 S 27th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85009

Pull N Save South is a self-service auto salvage yard in Phoenix where customers pick and remove their own used car parts. Located at 504 S 27th Ave, this yard is part of the Pull N Save chain with multiple locations across the U.S. The focus is on affordable, reusable parts for DIYers, repair shops, and anyone needing replacements.

Customers bring their own tools, remove parts themselves, and pay by weight. The yard doesn’t sell parts directly—instead, you salvage what you need from the inventory of wrecked and donated vehicles.

Services & What to Expect

Pull N Save South is a self-service salvage yard, meaning you handle finding and removing parts on your own. The yard stocks used parts from various vehicle makes and models, including domestic and foreign brands. Common parts include engines, transmissions, body panels, interior components, and mechanical parts.

You’ll need to bring your own tools—the yard doesn’t provide them.

How Self-Service Salvage Works

  • Find the part: Search the yard for the vehicle and part you need. Parts are grouped by vehicle type but may not always be labeled.
  • Remove the part: Once you locate it, take it off yourself using your tools. The yard doesn’t assist with removal.
  • Weigh and pay: After removing the part, bring it to the scale for weighing. Payment is by the pound, usually between $0.50 and $1.50 per pound, depending on the part.
  • No sales tax: Since parts are sold by weight, not as retail items, sales tax doesn’t apply.

What to Bring

  • Tools (wrenches, sockets, pry bars, etc.)
  • Gloves and safety gear (some parts may be sharp or dirty)
  • Transportation (you must remove and take parts with you)
  • Cash or card (for payment by the pound)
  • Vehicle details (knowing the make, model, and year helps when searching)

Parts Available

The yard carries a wide range of used auto parts, such as:

  • Engines and transmissions
  • Body panels (doors, hoods, fenders, bumpers)
  • Interior components (seats, dashboards, trim)
  • Suspension and steering parts (control arms, ball joints, tie rods)
  • Braking system components (calipers, rotors, brake pads)
  • Exhaust system parts (mufflers, catalytic converters, pipes)
  • Electrical components (alternators, starters, wiring harnesses)
  • Drivetrain parts (differentials, axles, driveshafts)

Availability changes often, depending on the vehicles in the yard. Some parts are in high demand and harder to find, while others are more common.

Getting Rid of a Junk Car

Solid place for parts, but they could really step up their game by getting more recent cars—like 2018 and newer. That’d bring in more customers, no doubt. ---

Decent spot, but man, a 50% off sale would be amazing. Don’t bother hunting for newer engines or transmissions—they sell those off elsewhere. Good luck finding a 4L80 or a 6.2 in stock. Yeah, right. ---

Hey guys, been coming here for 10 years as a mobile mechanic. Used to be way easier to find parts—cars were separated by brand, so if you needed something, you could just go straight to the right section. Now? Everything’s mixed together. Domestic, imports, Asian, European—all jumbled up. Makes it a pain to track down what I need. Would be great if they went back to organizing by brand like before. That said, I always find what I’m looking for here, so I can’t complain too much. Thanks for keeping the parts stocked! ---

Honestly, this place isn’t anything special—just your average junkyard. The one thing they did right is letting people into both the north and south yards now, which is nice. The staff is alright, not overly friendly but not rude either. Prices feel a little steep, but the yard is wide open, so maybe that’s why. I usually walk away happy enough, though I’ve definitely bought parts from Amazon before when they were cheaper. Depends on what you’re looking for, I guess. ---

This is my fifth car I’ve bought from them, and it’s hands-down the best place to grab cheap, usable rides when you need one. Yeah, I’ve flipped a few of them after I got tired of working on them—fixing stuff is my thing. My latest was a 2004 Ford Crown Vic. Lupita, the manager, hooked me up with a killer deal, just like always. My brother’s car got totaled when some oil change place forgot to put the drain plug back in. Insurance covered his loan, but he didn’t want another car payment, especially on military pay. He was visiting for Christmas, and we always hit up the junkyards in Phoenix for fun. Found the Crown Vic listed, asked for the keys, jumped it, and it started right up. We came back the next day to buy it—they’d even held it for us. Lupita gave us an insane price, we threw in a used battery, and we drove it home that same day. Registered it the next day, but my brother had to fly back to Louisiana. We planned a road trip for when he came back. A week later, he was here, and we prepped the car: new intake manifold (the old one was a cheap aftermarket piece leaking coolant), oil change, full inspection. Drove 1,250 miles from Arizona to Louisiana—no problems at all. Only fixes we did were the battery, oil, intake (just for peace of mind), a few bulbs, and a blend door actuator. Smooth ride the whole way. Oh, and my 2007 Ford Expedition from them? Solid truck so far. Swapped out timing components (standard for a 5.4 3V), plugs, alternator, water pump, and shocks—all for around $2,500 before my labor. Found a full set of nearly new tires at the North location for $162, got cold AC working again after clearing out a jammed blend door, and now I’m putting on new cats to kill a check engine light. She’ll be solid once I’m done. Love this place. They’ve got great employees, a solid selection of cars and parts, and I wish they’d hold onto the cooler, rarer cars a little longer before chopping them up. Still, I scored a 1992 Subaru SVX here last time—found it buried in the back after an employee told me to check out the new arrivals. Bought it the same day, started on starting fluid (as advertised), and drove it around before passing it to a collector. No hassle, no sketchy Marketplace deals—just a title, an emissions test, and you’re good to go. Can’t wait for my next project. Hope they’ve got something fun with a manual transmission next time! Lupita’s the best—always gets me a great deal.
