Overview

S&R Auto and Truck Salvage - Charlotte, NC

S&R Auto and Truck Salvage is a self-service salvage yard in Charlotte where customers can find used auto and truck parts for repairs or restorations. The yard follows a "u-pull-it" model—customers find and remove their own parts. It’s a go-to spot for DIY mechanics and professionals looking for affordable used components.

The yard is at 1420 West Craighead Road and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

What to Expect

S&R Auto and Truck Salvage is a self-service yard. Customers browse the lot, pick out parts, and remove them themselves. The yard stocks auto and truck parts like engines, transmissions, body panels, and interior components. Basic tools are usually available, but some visitors bring their own.

The yard doesn’t offer professional part removal or installation. Customers take parts at their own pace, and pricing depends on the part’s condition. Some damaged parts may be free. Cash is the only payment method accepted.

If you have an old vehicle taking up space, you can sell it for parts or scrap. Many Charlotte salvage yards, including this one, buy junk cars. It’s a quick way to clear your property and make some money.

What to Bring

  • Cash for purchases (small bills help)
  • Tools for part removal (if you don’t use the yard’s equipment)
  • A truck or trailer to haul parts (some are heavy or bulky)
  • Gloves and safety gear (the yard can be dirty and rough)

What You’ll Find

The yard has a mix of passenger cars, trucks, and commercial vehicles. Common parts include:

  • Engines and transmissions (domestic and foreign)
  • Body panels (doors, fenders, hoods, bumpers)
  • Interior parts (seats, dashboards, trim)
  • Suspension and drivetrain (axles, control arms, differentials)
  • Electrical components (alternators, starters, wiring)

Parts aren’t always organized by make or model, so you may need to search. Knowing what you need ahead of time saves time.

These guys were no help at all. Had to go somewhere else to get what I needed. ---

I called to ask about a part I needed, and the owner straight-up told me they don’t ship to body shops or dealerships. Fine, I said, if that’s how it is, I’ll take my business elsewhere. But then he called me a “smartass”? That’s not how you talk to customers. Absolute waste of time—don’t bother with this place. The whole call was a mess, and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. ---

Called about a part for my truck, and the woman on the phone was rude from the second I said hello. Never even gave me a price or checked if they had it—just said she was too busy and hung up. Every time I called back, I got put on hold and forgotten. Never got a single answer. First and last time I’ll deal with them.

I’d been hunting for a part for my classic car for weeks—called junkyards all over the country, and no one had it. Then a dealer in Virginia told me to try S&R Salvage. I didn’t expect much, but they actually had the exact part I needed. Even though they were busy, they took the time to find it, sent pictures, and confirmed it was the right one. Shipping was fast, the packaging was solid, and I got it in two days. The price was fair, and the service was way better than most places. If I ever need parts again, I’m calling them first. ---

The customer service was decent, and the parts weren’t overpriced. They even offer a 60-day warranty or refund, which is nice. The only annoying part? They didn’t warn me upfront that I’d have to wait on hold for two hours—or longer—to actually get the part. A little heads-up would’ve been helpful so I could’ve planned my day better. Just a basic courtesy thing. ---
