SA Recycling at 1360 Conception Street Rd, Mobile, AL 36610

SA Recycling is a self-service auto salvage yard and scrap metal recycling center on Conception Street Rd in Mobile. Customers can pull their own parts from salvaged cars, buy used auto parts, or sell scrap metal. The yard also buys junk cars when demand allows, though availability changes often. It serves both individuals and local businesses looking for parts or metal recycling.

Services & What to Expect

SA Recycling is a self-service salvage yard where customers can remove parts from wrecked vehicles during open hours. The yard carries common auto parts like engines, transmissions, body panels, wheels, and interior components. Basic tools are on site, but bring your own if you need specialty equipment.

The yard also takes scrap metal for recycling, including copper, steel, aluminum, and other metals. Prices are set by weight, with different rates for each type. Check current rates before bringing in materials. The metals are processed for reuse in manufacturing and construction.

SA Recycling buys junk cars sometimes, but it depends on market conditions and the vehicle’s condition. Call ahead at (251) 452-1549 to see if they’re buying before you bring a car in. They don’t guarantee purchases and can refuse any vehicle.

There are no fees to enter or browse. Staff can help you find parts and answer questions. The yard is well-organized, with sections clearly marked for different vehicle types and parts.

If you’re looking to get rid of an old car, SA Recycling might work, but other junkyards in the area also buy vehicles—and some may offer better deals. Compare offers before you decide.

Customer Experiences

SA Recycling has gotten mixed reviews from customers. Some like the service and staff, while others have had issues with pricing and transactions.

Happy customers say the staff is friendly and helpful. One regular wrote, "I don’t even look at other junkyards anymore—I always come here. The people treat you like family" (Johnny Herring, 5/5 stars). Another said, "I’ve been to a lot of scrap yards, but this one’s different. The service is good—friendly, fair, and actually helpful" (Stephen Battaglia, 5/5 stars).

Others have had problems, especially with scrap metal pricing. One customer from Pensacola drove to Mobile expecting $2.00 per pound but got $1.50, even after being told the higher rate (Meridyth Mcqueary, 1/5 stars). Another said they got $32 for 210 pounds of short iron, which they thought was too low compared to other Mobile yards (Charity Busby, 1/5 stars).

The worst review came from a transportation business that felt cheated: "Stay away from this place. They lowballed me and didn’t care. I lost money and got nothing in return" (Lone Wolf Transportation, 1/5 stars).

The reviews show that while some customers have good experiences, others have run into pricing disputes and unhappy transactions. Check current rates and policies before you go.

Honestly, I don’t even bother with other junkyards anymore—this place is where I always go. The people here are just good folks, the kind that make you feel like family. No reason to look elsewhere unless they open another location nearby. ---

Stay far away from this dump. They’ll lowball you and laugh while doing it. I got screwed out of what I was owed, and now I’m stuck with nothing. Don’t waste your time or money here—find somewhere else that won’t rip you off. ---

Don’t even think about bringing your scrap here. They straight-up lied to me. On the phone, they promised $2.00 a pound—same as the other yard in town. I called back four times, and they kept saying, *"Yeah, $2.00, no problem."* Drove all the way from Pensacola, and what do I get? A check for $1.50. When I turned around to leave, they tried to say they were closed (I got there 20 minutes early) and refused to give me my wire back. Now they’re saying they’ll mail me a check, but I know better. I could’ve gotten $1.75 back home. Absolute thieves. And the guy wouldn’t even talk to me himself—just sent someone else to handle his mess. God’s got a plan for people like that. ---

I’ve been to a bunch of scrap yards, but this one’s different. The service here is top-notch—friendly, fair, and actually helpful. Not the usual runaround you get at most places. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

We hauled 210 pounds of short iron here, and they gave us $32. That’s the worst payout we’ve ever gotten in Mobile or anywhere around it. Went out of our way for nothing. Never coming back. ---
