Overview

SA Recycling at 1525 W Miracle Mile, Tucson, AZ 85705

SA Recycling is a Tucson auto salvage yard and scrap metal recycler at 1525 W Miracle Mile. The yard lets customers pull their own parts from wrecked cars, trucks, and SUVs. You’ll find used parts for most vehicle makes and models, from engines to body panels. The business also takes scrap metal like aluminum, brass, and copper, though some materials need a business license. SA Recycling has been in Tucson for over 40 years, serving both individuals and businesses.

Services & What to Expect

SA Recycling is a self-service auto salvage yard. Customers search the lot for parts, remove them themselves, and pay at the office. The yard stocks salvaged vehicles with parts like engines, transmissions, body panels, and interior components. Staff must approve part removal before you take anything.

Self-Service Auto Salvage Process

Here’s how it works:

  1. Park in the customer area during business hours. Some visitors mention confusion about parking—watch for signs when you arrive.
  2. Find the part you need by browsing the lot. Parts are grouped by vehicle type but may not be labeled.
  3. Get a staff member to check the part and approve removal. You may need to show ID more than once.
  4. Remove the part with your own tools. The yard doesn’t provide tools or equipment.
  5. Pay at the main office. Pricing is per part, and not all parts are listed upfront.

Bring your own tools, gloves, and a vehicle to haul parts. The yard doesn’t clean or test parts before sale.

Scrap Metal Recycling

SA Recycling buys scrap metal from individuals and businesses. Common accepted materials include:

  • Aluminum cans and sheets
  • Copper wiring and pipes
  • Brass fixtures
  • Steel scrap

Some materials may have restrictions, especially non-aluminum types. A business license might be required for certain scrap. Payment is made on-site for approved loads.

Customer Service Notes

Reviews show mixed experiences with staff. Some customers praise the yard workers for being helpful, while others report rude or dismissive office staff. ID checks are required for part removal and scrap drop-offs, which some find inconvenient. The yard’s layout has also been criticized for poor signage, making it hard to find parking or parts.

What to Bring

  • A valid photo ID (required for part removal and scrap transactions)
  • Tools for removing parts (wrenches, sockets, pry bars, etc.)
  • Gloves and safety gear (the yard doesn’t provide protective equipment)
  • A truck or trailer (some parts are heavy or bulky)
  • Cash, debit, or credit card (the office accepts major payment methods)

Every time I’ve been here, the staff’s been real friendly and quick about things. No waiting around, no hassle—just get in, get out. That’s how it should be. ---

I had to go to this junkyard last week, and honestly, the people working there were super nice—answered all my questions and even helped me unload a bunch of cans. That part was great. But man, the place is a maze. I drove around for a while trying to find parking before I finally just left my truck where it was. Still, once I got inside, everything moved fast, so I didn’t waste too much time. If you don’t mind a little confusion, it’s not a bad spot. ---

The scrap yard itself is set up okay—easy to find what you need if you know where to look. But the women in the main office? Forget it. Rude, smug, and acted like I was wasting their time. You’d think customer service would mean, you know, *serving* customers, but nope. Not worth the headache. ---

This is the third time I’ve dragged my ass to this dump, and every single time, it’s the same bullshit. They’ll only take aluminum cans from regular people—try bringing in anything else, like old brass or copper, and suddenly you need a business license. I spent all day cleaning up my damn yard just to get treated like some kind of thief. They acted like I was trying to pull a fast one, and I’m done. Won’t be back, and I’m telling everyone else to stay away too. Absolute garbage. ---

They’ve got some new rules now, so I had to show my ID four times in a row—each time, the guy handed it back like I was gonna bolt with it. Then the manager wasn’t there to sign my check, so now I’m waiting on a mailed one. Not the smoothest experience, but whatever.
