Overview

SA Recycling at 598 Wells St SW, Atlanta, GA 30312

SA Recycling is a self-service auto salvage yard and scrap metal recycling center in Southwest Atlanta. Located at 598 Wells St SW, the business has been helping customers find used auto parts and recycle scrap metal since 1980. It serves DIYers and trade professionals who need affordable parts or want to sell metal for cash.

Services & What to Expect

SA Recycling is a self-service yard, meaning customers find and remove their own parts. The facility carries used auto parts like engines, transmissions, bumpers, lights, and interior components. It also buys scrap metal—copper, aluminum, steel, and more—paying by the pound. The yard doesn’t offer professional part removal or installation, but basic tools are available for customers to use.

How Self-Service Salvage Works

  • Search the yard: Parts are sorted by make, model, and year. Walk the rows to find what you need.
  • Check parts yourself: No testing is done, so buyers must confirm condition before buying.
  • Pay at the counter: Part prices are fixed. Scrap metal is weighed and paid for by weight.
  • Remove parts: Customers take parts out of vehicles using provided tools.

What to Bring

  • A vehicle VIN for matching parts
  • Tools (if you need them for removal)
  • Cash or card for purchases
  • Scrap metal (if selling)
  • A truck or trailer to haul parts

Vehicle & Scrap Metal Acceptance

SA Recycling takes most passenger cars, trucks, and SUVs for part-out. The yard doesn’t buy whole vehicles, but customers can sell scrap metal by weight. Common accepted metals include:

  • Copper wiring
  • Aluminum cans or siding
  • Steel beams
  • Brass fittings
  • Stainless steel

Every time I need to unload scrap, this is the first place I call. Doesn’t matter if it’s a handful of copper pipes or a full dump truck—these guys always give me the best deal for what I’m bringing in. No haggling, no nonsense, just fair prices. ---

A lot of the other reviews here hit the nail on the head—this place *will* lowball you on scrap metal. But after getting burned a few times, I figured out how to handle it. First, always ask for the exact per-pound rate *before* you start unloading. That way, you’re not stuck with a bad deal once your truck’s empty. Second, if their offer stinks, just walk. No shame in loading back up and taking your business elsewhere. And third—this should be obvious, but apparently it’s not—call around to other yards first. Prices change fast, and you deserve the best one. ---

Dropped off over 20,000 pounds of railroad rail for my company, and these guys had the nerve to log it as "steel and tin mix." When I called them out, they just shrugged and said, *"That’s how we do it."* Yeah, right—more like *"that’s how we avoid paying what it’s worth."* They knew damn well that 132 steel is premium, but they marked it down to save a few bucks. Don’t bother bringing high-value scrap here if you expect to get treated fairly. ---

Took in a truckload of stoves and fridges yesterday, got a great price, so I sent my husband over with his own haul today. Guess what? They *miscounted* his entire load—called his stoves and fridges "dishwashers" just because he had a couple mixed in. Shortchanged him by who knows how much. What kind of operation is this? You don’t mess with people’s money like that. I’m done here, and I’m telling everyone I know to stay away. ---

I’ve been coming here for years, and they’re one of the few scrap yards that actually pays what your metal’s worth. Prices are up-to-date, no surprises, and they don’t play games. Some of the bad reviews? Total nonsense. People show up expecting scrap gold prices for rusted-out junk and then act shocked when they don’t get it. This place has lasted this long because they’re honest—and that’s rare in this business. If you want fair treatment, this is where you go.
