Overview

Self Service Salvage - Phoenix, Arizona

Self Service Salvage is a self-service auto salvage yard in Phoenix where customers can find and remove parts from junked vehicles on their own. Located at 3250 West Broadway Road, the yard charges per part, so you only pay for what you take. No appointments or staff help are needed—just bring your tools and pick what you need. The yard is open Monday through Saturday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and closed Sundays. It stocks a wide range of used and salvage parts, making it a go-to spot for DIY mechanics, car owners on a budget, and enthusiasts looking for affordable alternatives to new parts.

What to Know Before You Visit

Self Service Salvage is a true self-service operation. You enter, find the parts you need, and remove them yourself. The yard doesn’t offer part removal help, so bring your own tools. Common items include engines, transmissions, body panels, bumpers, interior parts, and mechanical components. Pricing depends on the part’s condition and demand—no upfront fees, just pay for what you take. The yard doesn’t sell whole cars, but it does accept junk vehicles for salvage. If you have an old car you no longer need, you can sell it for cash through a separate process. Expect a no-frills experience with minimal staff interaction. Parts are organized by vehicle type and category, but you may need to search to find exactly what you’re looking for.

The yard doesn’t provide tools or safety gear, so bring gloves, wrenches, and any specialized tools you’ll need. There’s no storage or part cleaning on-site, so plan to transport and clean parts right after removal.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the hours at Self Service Salvage?

The yard is open Monday through Saturday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. It’s closed on Sundays, and hours stay the same all week—no early closures or extended weekend hours.

Does Self Service Salvage buy junk cars?

The yard doesn’t publicly list buying junk cars, as its focus is on part retrieval. However, many salvage yards accept vehicles for salvage. If you have a car to get rid of, check with the yard directly or use a cash for junk cars service to find a buyer.

What parts are available at Self Service Salvage?

The yard carries a broad selection of used and salvage parts, including engines, transmissions, body panels, bumpers, interior components (seats, dashboards), and mechanical parts (brakes, suspension, exhaust). Inventory changes often as vehicles are added and removed, so part availability isn’t guaranteed. Common makes and models are usually in stock, but rare or specialty parts may not be.

How does self-service salvage work here?

You enter the yard, find the parts you need, and remove them yourself using your own tools. No staff help is provided, and you only pay for the parts you take. The yard is organized by vehicle type, but parts aren’t always clearly labeled, so some searching is needed. Bring gloves, tools, and a way to transport parts right after removal.

Do I need an appointment to visit?

No appointments are required. The yard operates on a first-come, first-served basis during open hours. Calling ahead to check on part availability is a good idea, especially for in-demand items.

Are there any restrictions on what I can take?

The yard doesn’t sell whole vehicles, and some parts may be off-limits due to condition or legal reasons (like airbags or catalytic converters). Staff will let you know at checkout. The yard also doesn’t clean or store parts, so plan to handle and transport them as-is.

I sat around for two hours waiting for a part, and when I finally asked where it was, the guy just shrugged like he had no idea. Absolute waste of time—don’t bother with this place.

The service is terrible, and the staff acts like they’re doing you a favor just by being there. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

They swore up and down they had the part I needed, then made me wait an hour before admitting they didn’t. Total scam—don’t fall for their lies.

This junkyard is a joke—don’t even think about going. The people working there are useless, half of them just standing around drinking beer instead of helping customers. Complete waste of time.

The people here are straight-up rude. I just wanted a cheap carpet, but the price was ridiculous—might as well buy a new one. Tried to joke about hiding it in the back so I could sneak it out later, and the guy said he’d have someone stash it for me. Yeah, right. They were already closing, so I doubt it ever happened. Miss the old Ecology place—at least they didn’t act like this.
