Used to take my scrap to this place, but the pay is garbage compared to anywhere else in town. After dealing with one too many bad experiences, I’m done. I’m switching to Berh in Peoria—they buy the same stuff, and at least they don’t treat customers like an afterthought. No point keeping money in the pockets of places that don’t care. ---

Ordered my aluminum cans here because their website said they paid $0.60 per pound. Showed up, dumped out three barrels, and they claimed it was 99 pounds—though one barrel wasn’t even fully on the scale. Inside, the woman hands me $49.50. I’m like, wait, that’s not $0.60 a pound. She goes, “Oh, the website’s wrong—it’s actually $0.50.” Are you kidding me? I could’ve gotten $0.60 down the street. And don’t even get me started on how they made us unload everything ourselves while some guy just stood there watching. Next time, I’m weighing my own cans before I bother. ---

Back when they had a spot in Grandview on Wolfe, I took a boat to junk. The guy on the phone said, “Sure, just make sure it doesn’t look like a boat.” So we cut it into pieces. Drove to Springfield Iron and Metal, got weighed, unloaded, then re-weighed. Inside, the lady asked what it was. I said, “A boat—you told us to cut it up so it wouldn’t look like one.” She refused to pay and wanted us to load it back up. We left without a dime. Don’t trust this place. ---

We brought our old microwave here because it’s the only place in Springfield that takes them. The sign’s kind of small, so it took a second to find, but the guy who helped us was nice. He grabbed the microwave right out of our car and took it away. The whole thing took maybe five minutes. Simple, fast, and done.

I live right on the road where this junkyard is, and every time I drive past, I end up with nails, bolts, or metal chunks stuck in my tires. It’s not hard to clean up the scrap that spills into the road, but they don’t bother. It’s frustrating because it’s not just me—everyone who drives this way deals with it. A little effort to keep the road clear would save people a lot of hassle and money. ---
